I just watched it again on TV while we're visiting Charleston. One of the reasons I love the movie so much.

I now live in York County, SC, and I have visited all the film locations in York & Chester County, and visited the actual Cowpens Battlefield 30 miles away in Cherokee County. I live a few miles from Nanny's Mountain where ore was mined to make cannon balls for the Continental Army..

It made it such a great movie to have a really bad guy though. Screen writing rule to make the bad guy badder. If we made it 100% accurate, would it have been as entertaining? 😍

The statement, "war should be avoided at all costs, but is sometimes necessary," is a contradiction in terms. If war is sometimes necessary, that means there are costs which must not be incurred to avoid it, and that it is the threat of incurring those costs that we war against.

Without stating the obvious the Smithsonian is a guy called Smith who just happened to be British. Would we let you be and have your independence because we have enough for you we had more important issues in mainland Europe than the periphery of the 13 colonies because we made more money from the Caribbean with sugar trade?

I never got line warfare. Always use to make fun of it. The logic is sound though. Concentrate your forces and just push through, no one opposing in the same fashion? You just take their city. Also the logistics available would not have been able to effectively supply a splintered guerrilla army

Jason Issacs will always be one of the most amazing and even the most incredible and villainous figures that there ever were in such a Brutal War epic such as involving the Revolutionary War type such as the role that he played in the Patriot ! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

This will always be such a great movie. It gets way too much unnecessary hate for not being 100% historically accurate. But this is Hollywood. What movie has ever been 100% accurate?

finsfan90 if Britain made a film about America burning churches and using slavery, massacring civilians etc they'd cry in rage, yet when it's the other way round it's "just Hollywood"

All in all this was one hell of a time period. The sacrifice and honour of so many here and in all fairness each side did so well in there struggle , America certainly held the ground tho , I am not American , but I would also like to say if those American boys didn't stand up to push Cornwallis back and hold him in place Washington would have been crushed well before the French even arrived . So good on the hard press gentleman . It surely had also won the day

am from india. My grandmother saw the british army when she was 08 years old. she told me that she saw smart & fine looking Englishmen in redcoats on horse back riding down the road of kolkata in India ,once the capital of Her Majesty's eastern empire.I saw exactly in the movie what she used to tell me.Brilliant recreation of the British Red Coats in the Movie and everything was perfect.I have watched the movie 18 times

First off I love this movie, don’t get wrong. But we shouldn’t be surprised at the historical inaccuracy. The screenwriter literally says “1776 things looking dark for the patriots... defeats at Camden... Cornwallis pushing north”. The Battle of Camden wasn’t until 1780 lol
