His men standing vigil outside always gets to me. They all mourn Gabriel and they grieve with their colonel, but allow him privacy and keep others back as well. Even when Gabriel first met them, the tavern recruits stood as sentries to the colonel's "office" in the swamp. The colonel was able to inspire them to fight, but Gabriel was able to remind them of their humanity and a better future. After all the losses they'd had recently, Gabriel's death could have crippled the militia's morale.

It is often overlooked, but I LOVE Chris Cooper in this scene. The dialogue between him and Mel is truly golden... I almost feel like, if there was a book written, this scene depicts its main message. About loss, despair, freedom, what is worth fighting for, etc. This would be, the climax of the story. There are people like this that it's called 75 million Trump supporters. I would actually say more but since the election was rigged and the current president and I used this word very loosely is in office we're screwed for now. We don't have enough people in our government to do the right thing. We probably do need a civil war to clean out the government but I don't know if that'll ever happen because people think that all you have to do is be patient and kind and things get better.
@meggrotte4760

@Nordic Tyr I understand what you're saying but I also fear that my country won't survive either. People who follow God and care about doing what God wants we're ignored. Basically we have crazy people running our country. Only thing I can think of is that we have to trust God that he'll take care of it but the next three layers looks pretty damn scary not to mention we have a president who won't stand up to China. I do try to live one day at a time but it's hard when you're keeping track of everything I sometimes just turn it all off because it's overwhelming. The sad truth is we're starting to lose our freedoms and if we don't take a stand now there won't be in America but I don't know it taking a stand looks like We tried to do it the right way but our supreme Court is so corrupt we can't get anything done. I just know that we're going to suffer a lot over the next 3 years I don't know what that looks like but it's not going to be easy especially for Christians
