We love our home of Gorton and are proud to be based here.
The People Make the Place is a celebration of our local community, the places we work and the people we create music with.
St Peter's RC High School, Old Hall Drive Academy, All Saints Primary School, HideOut Youth Zone and participants from our very own Music Cafe performed on stage songs they had written accompanied by our world-class musicians and composers. They even performed a song with accompanying sign language, thanks to the help of the Deaf Village North West. We were so proud of everything they achieved.
As well as our local superstars, we had the world premiere of 'Carved in Gorton Stone', composed by Alex Ho, who was on loan to us from the Royal Philharmonic Society. 'Carved in Gorton Stone' was inspired by Alex's recent visit to Gorton and really brought Gorton's history to life.
As one of our audience members, Carol, said, "It's brilliant, it brings all the local community together." We couldn't agree more.
The People Make The Place has been made possible with generous support from The Holroyd Foundation, Hoppy Trust, The Radcliffe Trust, Zochonis Charitable Trust, The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, The Granada Foundation and The Pilot Group.
