LED is moving so fast as a technology , I bought a $2000 dollar light 7 years ago , 3 years later I took it tip ! People should buy a brand they trust at a throw away price, the biggest thing to remember with LED is sure it 'can' last 30 yrs.... but it probably wont, and would you even want to use it when a much more efficient light is now available and the electricity is is now three times more expensive per month. After purchasing that LED light (which was so pretty when it was on ) and comparing it to the 600w High pressure sodium (HPS) lights my experience back then was LEDS didn't compare to HPS , LED just couldn't cut through the canopy half as deep as HPS. Keen to know how they compare these days though, perhaps you could run a trial 600W HPS vs... what ever watt LED. I would for sure be interested !

I keep hearing good things about this light. Now I wish I had invested a little more and gotten two of these instead of two SF1000's. They're great. Don't get me wrong. But they just wouldn't compare in PAR readings for a 1m x 1m space. And when you have limited space, you want to squeeze every little bit you can out of your crop.

Great channel man! You need more subscribers! From a tech-perspective: The Meanwell drivers are really reliable and if the LM301 LEDs are genuine, you got very good LEDs there (don't know how reliable spiderfarmer is as I never had anything to do with the brand). There are better and newer, but you'd have to pay those as well, making it less affordable. As for the used LED wavelengths: 380-410nm, UV spectrum. How useful this is for plants isn't quite sure. 650-665nm, deep red, important for flowering. 2800-3000K, warm white, also more towards flowering, but supplying a good generally usable light for the plants. 4800-5000K, cold white, the larger blue spectrum helps to grow the stalks and leaves more compact and strong, while also delivering generally useful light for the plants. You could also mount some fans on top of the light array to dissipate heat, while also strengthening the plants below. But 65°C is okay for LEDs. Another thing where cooler would also mean more expensive probably. But I've had LEDs desoldering themselves (around 180-200°C) and they didn't die while doing it. Cheers, an electronics technician with less of a green thumb than you have lol

While I love the design of this light I'm definitely not sold on it. You suggested that it spread the par evenly across the map however you have 1000 in the centre and 385 in the corner. That seems like a standard variance to me. I did a quick search on Amazon for this light and there are quite a few negative reviews regarding quality, missing parts and heat produced. I believe Spider Farmer makes some great products but I'm not convinced this is one of them. I'll stick with my Viparspectra XS2000 which has better par values (even at 18" compared to the 10" values withTHIS Spider Farmer), costs less, and has been working flawlessly for the last year. Thanks for the review though. I do love the innovation with the adjustability and options. One day they'll make a light that gives excellent coverage over the entire grow area.

@@Hoocho Thanks. However I don't currently grow in Hydroponics. I just really enjoy your channel and the ingenuity you have when creating varied systems. I mainly grow hot peppers and tomatoes in soil. I find that watching your vids helps me to push further outside the box and come up with new ideas relating to my grow space/practices. I've been very interested in trying to incorporate some of your self-watering ideas into my setup. Unfortunately it seems that many of these spaced lighting systems don't really increase the coverage at the edges/corners by much. My favorite design was the Mogobe Octopus 300 that you reviewed a while back. While the par values seemed a bit low the design was very intriguing. Cheers!

What is the maximum size tent you could use just one of these lights in? I have a 4x4 and I'm worried that this might be a bit too small...
@ivareskesner2019
2 жыл бұрын
This will definitely not be too small. The light itself measures almost a metre across. If anything, it's a bit of an overkill for a 4 x 4. You could easily run this thing in 1.8m x 1.8m tent, I reckon. Maybe even 2m x 2m.
@Hoocho
2 жыл бұрын
The light is less than a meter across, it’s more like 2x2 foot, the tent is a meter across, but the elevated PAR levels that most brands pedal are WAY above way you actually need to grow with good results. If you had this light raised higher it would cover a 4x4 easily,
@ivareskesner2019
2 жыл бұрын
@@Hoocho Ah, the tent is 1m, not the light. I see. Still. That light looks big enough to cover a 4 x 4 if raised up a little, like you mentioned. I used a single SF1000 in a 3 x 3 with very good results. But yes. Of course if you wanted to get the most optimal results, you might want a bigger light 👍🏻

2,62 umol/J? That can only be PPF? Youre not able to measure that. You would need a sphere to catch all of light thats emitted. What you can measure is how much light hits the canopy, thats PPFD. I dont know if you mean that, but if you do, 2.62 is wrong, i can guarantee that. Also. the 2.79 that the company claims, if PPF, not PPFD. What i said in the beginning, total light, not onyl what hits the canopy. Thats 2.79. At least they claim.. You could have realized that in a secound, the useable PPFD is always 15% lower than the PPF. sometimes a few percent more or less, depending on design. The company claims 2,79, if you take away 15%, you land at about 2.4. Thats closer to the truth, but still overrated. The light achieved about 2.20 PPFD average in other tests.

I grow with aeroponics in the SOG. I built my own aero systems. They measure 2'9" x 3'. So lets say 9 s/ft. In that 9 s/ft I have 46 plants. They are almost 2" apart. I tried using a few of these bar lights. I new what was going to happen. But I gave these manufacturers the benefit of the doubt. And what I knew was going to happen, happened. All the plants that were in-between the bars where the diodes are. Only grew half as big as the plants directly under the bars where the diodes are. I knew this was going to happen from previous experiments I performed some 10 years ago. When I first started growing in the SOG. So people, think about what I just said. My plants that are not directly under the diodes only grow half as big as the plants directly under the diodes. So what do you think is happening to your one plant. It's not getting the same coverage through your canopy. Do your own experiments. You're see all of these LED light manufacturers are lieing through their teeth. For about the last 8 years. I have been in contact with about 8 different led light manufacturers. To make a video on this subject. To prove me wrong. And not one of them will do it. WHY ? Cause it's all about the money. They don't care that their lieing to you and ripping you off. And obviously all of you don't care either. SUCKERS. LMFAO 🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆
