something i wanted to add is that i believe this was around the time irene’s “feminist book” scandal happened which makes this era 10x more iconic!

one of my favorite lines in bad boy is when yeri tells the boy to "come closer, put your head down to match my height", in other translations its bluntly put that she wants him to "crouch down". following your themes of role reversal, i always perceived it as a power flip. "no, you meet me where im at instead of me meeting you and doing what you want". it also plays into the lamb imagery...like the dots are connecting. we're connecting the dots. now im starting to wonder how many secrets are hidden within photobooks that we have yet to see. nonetheless another great video! 🍓🐇

@@shprism i meant to say it about photobooks in general, since i know there are some that are lost to time (i know some fx ones) or people simply didnt want to scan them in its entirety. honestly its very interesting to think about esp concept wise.

I love love your analysis on red velvet, I think their innate uniqueness and concepts invite such intelligent and critical fans like you who can truly appreciate an artist’s work!!! I was curious to know how you would plan a tour concept for them? I think i saw that you weren’t a fan of r to v so what kinda concept would u want for them? I’ve always loved La rouge the most

dis gotta be one of your best creative breakdowns yet!! i find the concept of femininity to be SOOOOO interesting! i feel like i’m a bit of an androgynous person but i really love just how femininity IS and how it can be explained. i had actually just recently watched a video about how femininity is demonized by hollywood (vid by shanspeare, very informative) and i just think that you hit all of the points! not only is this a very excellent era for rv visually but there are also deeper messages as you said, about breaking the mold of what femininity is sold to BE about, by men! i didnt even think about the lighting in that one set of concept pics representing the ethereal feminine feeling, but once again, you’ve completely opened my eyes!! another great video like

I’ve been socialized as a boy (although non-binary best deserves my gender identity) and pink was my favorite color when I was little. I remember being bullied as young as three because I liked “feminine” things. I loved to play dress-up, but my dad would get angry and I eventually stopped. I can’t wait to move out and start experimenting with my style again when I’m older 🩷

Is there a reason why Wendy has a plaid dress on while the other girls wear solid red dresses in Peek-A-Boo?
@riffgroove
Жыл бұрын
It's because Wendy had started to gain weight again. Look at her in the #CookieJar video which came out not long after. She was noticeably heavier. It wasn't that her outfit was plaid, it's that it was noticeably baggier. She soon discovered Pilates and got into incredible shape afterwards.

@@shprism She absolutely was beforehand. But her weight had a tendency to fluctuate. It started to show during the One of These Nights era as well. Since she discovered Pilates, she's been in incredible shape.

Did you come up with the scream queen analysis yourself or did you read another article about that? Cause typically there’s a final girl in the movie and the men aren’t always portrayed to be logical. So I don’t think being emotional leads to women’s downfall in horror films
@dotcom3015
Жыл бұрын
@@shprism it’s just Nancy Thompson from nightmare on es came to mind as a possible scream queen or Wendy from the shining, or Lila from psycho, or Julie from ikwydls. I’ve always considered horror to demonize all teen tropes, except maybe the pure virgin. So it’s rare for any of the characters to be portrayed as logical except for sometimes the final girl.
