The Petit Trianon, located in the grounds of the Palace of Versailles, was built in 1772 by the architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel. This castle was offered by Louis XVI to Marie-Antoinette in 1774, thus becoming her privileged refuge. Marie-Antoinette undertook work to beautify the gardens, replacing Louis XV's botanical garden with an Anglo-Chinese garden. During the French Revolution, the Petit Trianon briefly served as an inn. Napoleon restored the castle for his sister Pauline and later for Empress Marie-Louise. In 1867, Empress Eugénie made it a museum dedicated to Marie-Antoinette. The Petit Trianon is distinguished by its simple and elegant cubic architecture, with varied facades and remarkable harmony. Inside, there are rooms arranged around a vast staircase, and Marie-Antoinette's bedroom was redesigned by Jean-Démosthène Dugourc.
