There's something about the intro when the screen hits "Star Wars" with the music that just sells it. Being a fan of Star Wars forever, the music right from the start just conveys all the emotion of what Star Wars is all about, risk, fear, aspiration, standing on the edge striving for more, facing your demons, etc., everything. It was a great time to be a kid. I was introduced to Star Wars 5 years prior and couldn't wait to see The Phantom Menace. I still remember my reaction from seeing the teaser poster for the first time in late 1998. I had just seen the special editions of the original trilogy in 1997 and thought that that would be it. Then I saw the poster that showed Anakin Skywalker as a child and Darth Vader's shadow behind him. Immediately, I knew who that kid was and who he would become. I had no idea that there was going to be another film, but after seeing that poster (then the trailer shortly afterwards) I knew I had to see it. I managed to see the film twice in theaters and several times on VHS. Nearly 25 years later, I still enjoy episode 1 and the other prequels un-ironically and do not regret it. Disney's films have not and never will match up to the originals, nor the prequels, and there's not been that many films since Phantom Menace that made me feel like I was going to witness an event in the making.

Star Wars fans were mainly super hyped and revved up excited for this movie in 1999. Sixteen years has it been after the long wait since the last movie called Return of the Jedi was released in 1983 following the premiere of Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace. The first Prequel tells the origins of Anakin Skywalker who was a young Slave boy became a Jedi before he was transformed into Darth Vader. The movie premiere wasn't exactly the reason it took place, it also revitalize the attention of others and Star Wars: The Force Awakens wasn't around until the main actual premiere took place in 2015.

Phantom Menace was my first Star Wars film as a kid and I was fortunate that my folks took me to go see it in 99 in theaters. I remember all of the merch that came out with this. I distinctively remember this blueberry scented chapstick that had Anakin in his podracer helmet on its side.

I miss opening day hype like this. Trying to be the 1st on into the auditorium, sidewalk campers... just the whole mood. Definitely didn't feel this with the sequels.

I love how to excitement of the audience completely drowns out the music of the opening
