I don't know why yall are making a big deal out of this single skyscraper. The Philippines is in the golden age of infrastructure. There are literally skyscrapers sprouting in every corner of the country every week/month. There are actually 3 that are under construction in my provincial city.

Don't worry seems like China will save the world eeconomy,defeated covid and 700 million middle class , That's massive,you can say all bad things to China but one thing they deserve credit is lefting it's people from poverty. It's actually the target of the giant Corp. That's why Apple, Tesla, Microsoft & etc won't leave China. US big banking institution granted full ownership in China also. It's a reverse from US politics actually. Portraying China as an enemy but the business sectors doing the opposite. So expect wave of Chinese people. It's like what the European says when they see Chinese buying expensive stuff. "What you gonna do they're rich". Lol.✌

Filipino architects should focus more on designing uniquely futuristic building designs or iconic towers to become at par with the best of the world!
@ninojanjeremygo463
3 жыл бұрын
I don't know, but this Double M Tower looks ugly to me (same style with Quest Hotel Cebu but worse, maybe), too generic and dull, left-out-with-time-from-the-past design. The architectural design have no cultural touch or aesthetic taste for 21st century. Lack of cultural inspiration or innovative uniqueness. Singapore is my ideal taste, they value nature and sidewalks, and ultimately their architect that even its decades old built never lost in modern design. But I think the local government can't be picky for now, it's the businessman and billionaire who make it, I mean they don't care about art, they only care optimizing expense (functional) at expense for aesthetic (using less weight-supporting materials/beams, easy-engineered: so they make all boxy, no curves, no twisting, no diagonal shapes or beams, and bad cement-glass proportions) and just earn more money! They need to revamp the design! Yes, either futuristic with originality or cultural iconic design that last long for centuries anyway! It's a waste, to be an eyesore against time! Not some giant whistle, or thick bond-paper with a margin, or sharpener/ruler like, or cabinet design or whatever that is. I see that kind of design here: Quest Hotel's base design and that purple building's paint rip off and that ugly skyblue/cyan metal stripe www.google.com/maps/@10.3190146,123.9040055,3a,62.8y,308.43h,110.83t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1yOHIobSc6ZbKXC9IyJ4Sw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 IDK maybe lack of more solid shapes (just rectangular prism and some dirty linings) unless if it's mostly glassy modern style, or too much order and straight lines, or too much details that leads to chaotic look, or ugly basement design or corner gaps may cause it; much worse if you see it live than image, and especially if it's your first time; ^My first impression is bad until I see it almost everyday that my eyes get use to it, I got numb that I start to think "the design is just OK"! The Malaysia made it better, honestly (though I only see it in videos: the Petronas Twin Towers)! www.google.com/maps/@10.3193909,123.9033935,3a,75y,354.61h,123.84t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sJJPl8veKpzECcZ9Czm7K3g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 (Mandarin Plaza Hotel looks better, even if it's older, I can tolerate (it got many shapes but stay simple), but the modern architecture with bad/generic design is not good. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mIJqrZ2bh6ppg3Y

The strength of a tall rectangular shaped building is its more windows, but isn't fitting to a quake-prone area, it's weak on side to side shaking at the 2 long sides. I'm not implying the designers didn't know what they're doing, but then the decision of creating buildings comes from other people as well. Hopefully those dampers are enough, & other quake-countering tech
