Love, love, love the music! Composed by Vic Mizzy, who also wrote for the Addams Family and Green Acres.

I thought the commercials were better than the TV show. Those days were so different than today. In many ways, of course. For instance, two of the commercials featured two frumpy old ladies in the lead roles; one selling dish washing liquid; the other selling mouthwash. What? No sexy young women? Two grandmotherly women instead. Gotta love the quaintness of a time when the reality of the Vietnam War, Hippies, Assassinations, Race Riots, Psychedelic Drugs, Long Hair and the Cold War made the utter escapist absurdities so precious and counterbalancing!!

This is a kinescope film version in monochrome. It was sent to ABC stations that still couldn't afford a color telecaster. They were known in the industry as "bicycle prints", usually 16 mm films. Also, I noticed that the Filmways "globe" logo was lopped off at 27:55. It was a Filmways presentation in association with Phyllis Diller's own company, Phi-Dan productions.

Phyllis unfortunately comes off as a Lucy wanna be... But with Lucy there were varying shades of Gray to her performance. Not so with Phyllis. Every line is delivered a la stand-up.

If Ralph Levy were any kind of director he would have stopped the shoot and instructed Phyllis to stop overacting and stop shouting her lines. She was awful. The show goes rapidly downhill after Vic Mizzy's opening theme.

Phyllis Diller knew the show was sagging so she pulled out all the stops.
