Hey man, really great video. I’ve been into preparedness for a long time and one of the things that I can tell is you think through potential scenarios as well as processes in order to help set yourself up for success. I don’t know if I got that from my mother or if it was something that the military instilled in me, but regardless very well thought out kit and bag. As a KZitemr myself I get a lot of the same negative comments that I believe is similar to throwing manure on a wall and just seeing what sticks. They take one video or one sentence, or part from a video and they want to completely tear it down in order to get some kind of validation. I recently did a video on my bug out bag. People automatically think because you’ve got one you’re automatically going to leave the safety of your home or wherever you may be at at the time. The reality is people like you and myself Are just sharing what we have with other people in order to spark hopefully their own creativity so that they can be more well prepared in the event. Something goes sideways.. again great information and you earned a sub for sure. I’ll share your video on my socials later today and hopes that we can get you some additional subs. I personally know how difficult it is as a 2nd amendment/preparedness content creator to fight the algorithms.

I have a large deployment bag that has a similar purpose. All my gear stays stored in it for one reason and one reason only. So I can find it when I need it. I have watched too many people over the years that have to scrounge their gear together. When it's time for me to do a test run and/or head to my hunting camp for a off season event, I grab my guns, my deployment bag which I toss in my truck, and I am at my buddy's house for the next two hours while he gathers his gear. It is amusing and sad to watch. Keep your gear together, it's a simple idea. You don't have to be preparing for SHTF, just keep your gear together so you know where it is.

@@kendalldawson162 I think multiple depending on an individuals level of preparedness. I’ve got my emergency bag or get home bag I’ve got another bag that is set up for my family medical bag, which is what I like to call my mobile hospital. And a few others. Now the reality is where I live at I could probably see myself using the items that I have in my vehicle as well as some of my trauma items for an event like a tornado versus a bug out situation, but tornadoes is something that does happen in our area, and obviously the effects can be devastating.

I'm leaning towards us most likely having an EMP type attack, or definitely civil unrest, where we have people buying up every supply in stores. We got s little taste of it during covid- take a lesson from everything even if it was blown out of proportion. We got a real life training for it. So having a mobile type water filtration system is good whether it be those straws or some filter bag. Water is a necessity.

Folding deer cart and a bag of straps - both to lash stuff to the cart *and* create a harness wirh a front mounted quick release (could be a single strap running diagonally across your chest) so you can drag a bunch of crap (like, say, the cans of stuff, or a casualty) while keeping your hands free. They're generally rated for 300lbs or so and are designed for dragging that cross country. Wheels beat feet if you need to unload that truck and you can't just drive to the final location. Or if you need to bring a bunch of stuff *to* the truck (like, say, your buddy with the broken leg). And it's both more practical and packs into the truck easier than, say, a wheelbarrow (😂) or a lawn cart.

I had considered a bugout duffel some years ago, and it didn't really make sense for me and my family. I live in suburbia, in a smaller metro area that has easy access to less congested/ rural type environment. However, it's still suburban, and I'm certain that the roads will become congested quickly in a similar emergency. That said, our bicycles are the first option for egress, and a big duffel isn't ideal. I instead use a number of messenger type satchels that can be attached to the bike frame or cargo rack. Individual circumstances dictate what will or won't work.

Simple modular bags for every day things makes "life" easy too. Whatever you are doing that weekend, you can mix and match already built out lego bags. And if the unthinkable happens... Well youve already got a bunch of legos you are experienced with playing with. Just gotta add in a few "extra" toys on top of it. If all you got space for is a ruck on your back, well thats an entirely different subject that gets lots of coverage. But assuming you have the option of a vehicle, being able to QUICKLY get some extra luxury items into it just makes you all the more flexible. And you can jettison that all back down to a core rucksack if things force you a walkin. EX1: I keep a "work" bag packed. Nothing tactical. But if i was helping a buddy out for a douple days after a storm... What would i want to grab? --full half face respirator. spare radio. Multiple gloves (leather, disposable, and high cuff chem), gators. Extra TP. High vis vest. A stack of batteries and a headlamp. Knipex mini bolt cutters and pliers. A fullsize hammer and pry bar. Overalls. Poison ivy soap and hygiene. Idea being, that one bag is a grab-all for anything outside work related. And most of the items jn it go way beyond the bare bones minimalist capabilities you'd have in a BOB or ruck. So then if you gotta jet fast due to things getting weird, that one bag now also contains anything you need to do real non tactical related work in a tough spot. Grab and go. EX2: Going camping for the week with the family? -one bag has my comfortable tents and shelter, sleep matts, bedding. (QUALITY SLEEP MATTERS!!!) -another bag has cook and mess kits, fire, bug kits, repellants, etc. -and then I have multiple 3-day meal kits put together based on hot/cold/slow/fast eating. Grab a bag for however many days the family is camping... -etc Just going to your neighbors to work for the day? Just the work bag. Camping for the weekend? Camping+meals. And you start to see the overlap. Tornado disaster? Just grab work+camping+meal packs. And if the job was "fill the car, wheels up in 5 minutes with whatever is in there".... Those exact same bags serve double duty and ensure every base is covered without any extra thought. A lot of words to say, making things modular reduces the need to think about them.

Then if you don't have something stashed or another location to go to, that bucket of food and single case of water will last maybe 2 days depending on family size.

What a lot of people miss here is that disaster is often localized. The entire world doesn't usually fall apart all at once. It's specific places with specific circumstances that get bad. And yes: getting out is often the best solution. Because getting out usually literally means leaving the disaster area and getting back to normalized safe civilization. But sometimes that's a journey of a multiple days and many troubles. So having some gear is helpful.

With all that electronics you then also need some wind and/or solar chargers, a vehicle is one way, but you can't always count on having it and for how long you can keep it operational, you do get power banks with built in solar but are limited in capabilities

As i set here field stripping and cleaning my M4. Heard the Emergency Alert start playing. Grabbed my secondary M4 an slammed a Mag home. Wife come thru asking what's happening i heard the alert carrying her 40 cal. Nothing Babe it was only a test lol. She got spooked for a second. She is now field stripping and cleaning our 3rd m4. The secondary is still loaded for Emergency purposes lol. Awesome video my friend. In my house hold we have 3 bug out bags ready to go. With the corresponding plate carriers attached to the bag. Mine hers an a Battle Buddy if he's here when SHTF. The duffel bag is for extra ammo an extra nite optics an extra medical supplies with of course extra batteries for the optics. small water purification tablets an a backup walke. I carry the duffel it's a bit heavy though we train with a full load out. Nothing like living in the rural mountains for the privacy an seclusion.

As I stated in the video, leaving should never be the first thing you do. Shelter in place and fortify your location first, and then IF and only IF based on events, intel, and communication with team members you deem you should move, it should be thought out and efficient.

Hear lots of videos going over the same thing. Would like to see more info on team building/development. You having an AR is cool, but even better if you and six other friends have one. Maybe someone with a battle rifle, a fire support team etc. Overall good stuff but if you are truly prepping, remember there is strength in numbers. And having people with a select skill set when needed is far more valuable than just you running around with an MRE and a rifle.

Would it also be advisable to have a belt loadout with the setup you currently have or just depend on the rifle? Kind of curious. I have pretty much the same setup with a carrier, chest rig, and helmet. I am looking into building a WP nvg setup though. Great video and to the point. What was all in the buckets? Any dried food instead of canned, which could be less weight to carry? This is quite an interesting process and always evolving. Always great to see and hear others POV.

IMO, mission dictates gear. Belts are mostly for cops or close quarters fighting. I do have a belt setup, but rarely use it. Plate carrier with LBE is the way. The buckets contained mylar bags filled with rice, beans, sugar, flour, etc.

No one is running active IR anymore due to everyone having NODs. If you see someone with it, it's specifically for cool range stuff with your buddies. The fucking rooskies even have a helent mounted device that detects IR lasers and immediately direction finds it.

I would add a small lock picking/bypassing kit. A kit that is roughly the size of most wallets can get you pretty far. In a world of civil protests/riots the idea of being able to open a lock and then re-lock it behind you makes a lot of sense. In a WROL situation the ability to access areas for supplies without smashing windows and drawing attention is also attractive. Consider in many areas of the country access roads by power lines and gas lines are gated and locked. These roads allow for travel over pretty long distances and quietly accessing them would definitely come in handy. Kits are dirt cheap, maybe less than 50 bucks and you can become very proficient from a couple YT videos and a few hours on a rainy day. Start paying attention to how much stuff is locked with padlocks that you see daily and you will get the idea.

@@donjohn1620 🤣 Lock picking under stress is a whole nother thing. You need to be very proficient at it to do it under stress quickly. Bolt cutters are the best way to deal with pad locks. Doors a breaching shotgun is a good option.
@donjohn1620
3 ай бұрын
@@fredted1611 you can become very proficient with a tension tool and lock rake in a few hours on some rainy Sunday morning watching a couple KZitem videos on the subject and they take up less room then your car keys. Two scenarios: Mass riot, the ability to open a gate or door that you can lock behind you will give you space and time. Second scenario: Longer hike home during a SHTF or WROL. The idea of being able to access locked buildings for holding up for a night or in order to look for supplies without alerting anyone you’re inside might come in handy. Bolt cutters and breech pens have their place, but so does a small pick set.
@fredted1611

@@donjohn1620 That's great but do you really think that under stress, being hunted by others, you'll, one, have time to pick a lock, two, remember to lock it back up behind you? This isn't the movies and your not John Wick or James Bond. 🤣 If your one person, defending yourself and picking a lock at the same time isn't going to happen.
