Man this is such a great video. It's so nice that teaching pitch accent is becoming common. This video was well paced with no fluff, multiple examples with native speech, and clear visuals. Pitch accent is very approachable now.

Thank you for this. When I lived in China back in 2015 I was told I must take care with using pitch while there. A year after I arrived in Japan but wasn't really aware of the importance of pitch here, so thank you for your series of videos, they're helping me in daily interactions. I wonder which verb Kuro likes the best...

The Chinese tone is much more important in conveying the meaning than the Japanese pitch, but, yes, pitch is important in speaking Japanese 😁 I guess Kuro loves the word “to hunt” and “to eat” ...🤔 Thank you for your comment!!

I found it was confusing to differentiate pitch accent until I found this. I like how u compared the different pitch accents at the same time. That really helped me in differentiating the pitch accents.

I swear, I'm gonna get to a point where I'd introduce myself with such an amazing level of pitch accent that no one would be able to tell I wasn't a native... until I say my next sentence when they realize my vocabulary and sentence structure are about as good as a 2 year old's. Like, I understand the differences between the T sounds between English and Japanese, I feel Very confident in my R sounds, and am pretty good at picking up different pronunciations of ん, but I can't understand most basic sentences, what the hell is wrong with me?
