Buying a soviet camera is regarded as being hit-or-miss.
On one hand, these cameras range from old (80s and 90s) to very old (50s and 60s). Many of them have never been serviced or have either been 'adjusted' by various users (who either thought that increasing the curtain tension or squirting some oil inside will fix them) or serviced with various degrees of knowledge and experience.
On the other hand they were never built to a high standard of craftsmanship or precision, using low quality parts and lubricants.
Sometimes it's actually a wonder they work at all. So the next time you buy one hoping it will be ready for action, spend a couple of minutes beforehand watching this short series about the things they might hide inside.
