What's really sad is that that list is ONLY comics. Looking at sales numbers that includes manga and other versions of light novels entirely obliterates them. Pretty sure the message is clear though. Even their readers that are still around want a an actual well written hero like Batman has classically been instead of the identity politics woke crap characters they're pushing now. If they're not careful with what they keep doing with Batman though, they'll ruin even that and we'll finally see them virtually collapse. AT&T needs to just call it and shutter them already if only to preserve what's left of the brand. When they kill off the JL I doubt they'll recover at all because it will be the death of the only characters they have that people care about at all. Maybe at that point AT&T actually will shutter them to coincide with the death of the brand.

The politics are bad enough, and DC's creative and business decisions have always been terrible. But for my money, the biggest reason nobody cares about any DC character apart from Batman is because DC themselves told us not to. How many comics, TV shows, movies, games, etc, has DC put out in the past twenty or thirty years that show Batman or Joker embarrassing the other members of the Justice League? Even Superman was relegated to just a boss-fight, and the rest of the League have been made out to be a bunch of useless jobbers. DC spent an entire generation telling us that nobody outside of Gotham City matters, so it shouldn't be any surprise that none of them can sell anymore.

It's the same thing with Disney. The creativity, the visuals, the storytelling . . . Was the "message" really worth it? I've always been told the true genius is the one who can do the most with the least. It's something I'm finding more true everyday when I see small creators with next to no budget and few resources create things that make major companies look bad. LOL, and Tom Taylor was on Twitter shitting on The Quartering and others who said the book was a sales disaster, hilariously citing all the reprints they had to do, as if that meant anything. It's very easy to deliberately print a low number of issues so they sell out immediately and you get to boast how you had to reprint because of the success. If you had to reprint because of success you would have been #1. Are you telling me that stuff like Venom #1 and Batman #116 also had to reprint several times? And sure, it's true that the 6th issue of Superman didn't show up in the December list of best sellers because it came out in January, but it has yet to show up in any of the reorder lists, which means it's unlikely to be a top seller (and boy, if they're still using the low printing trick no reorders is a big red flag right there). And you still can't shake away the issue that DC is only really selling Batman stuff.

Batman got old 10 years ago for me. He's not even written as Batman anymore. He literally no different at this point than anyone else. Boring. How the hell are ppl still into comics? If you haven't made the switch to manga like 10 years ago, idk what you've been doing with your life.

I dropped comics before they got woke. The model is fundamentally broken. If I read issue 1 of a manga I know I can expect issue 100 to be similar. In comics I wouldn't even expect the main character to be the same.

I always be telling people that it’s ridiculous how DC puts so much effort into one character, and then barely gives the others scraps. How the hell does Superman, basically the premier superhero, not have had at least a film (and game) trilogy like Batman has? Wonder Woman had to wait 70+ years to get her own live action film, and 80 to finally get a AAA game. I usually shit on his fanboys for whining when they don’t have their 104577885th Batman product, but it’s ultimately on DC for conditioning fans into thinking that everything and everyone should revolve him. Spider-Man content can get quite over saturated too, but at least you had something like the MCU that gave lower tier characters a chance to become box office draws, and even some of them getting their own games. I can’t even tell you how frustrating it can be to be a Superman/DC fan. Especially when I see stuff like NWH that basically serenades the character of Spider-Man while we get…Superman being raped for 8 months. They put this on themselves, plain and simple.

_Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same fucking thing... over and over again expecting... shit to change... That. Is. Crazy. The first time somebody told me that, I dunno, I thought they were bullshitting me, so, I shot him. The thing is... He was right. And then I started seeing, everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked all these fucking pricks, everywhere I looked, doing the exact same fucking thing... over and over and over and over again thinking 'this time is gonna be different' no, no, no please... Take a peek at D&D's new supplement. No race has alignment tendencies. OK, sure. But small humanoids have the same base movement rate. You can assign any racial mod to ability scores. So now we have not-so-tough dwarves moving like elves. Oh- and 30 races to play. Even a variant human build is no longer competitive, since you are able to custom build a race now with a feat at leveil 1. I miss the LOTR feel of old 80s AD&D...

The only DC books I've bought since 2015 are the Kirby Fourth world trade reprints and the Absolute editions (No, wait, I bought the Spectre omnibus--great classic material from the 60s and 70s). The only comic I've been reading is just ending after six brilliant seasons. It's not from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, or even BOOM. I was buying comics since 1971 until 2015. Gee, what happened in 2015 that changed?

People know DC only cares about Batman. Most of their promotion is for Batman. The last few animated and TV works were about Batman outside of Supergirl and Superman & Lois and even those shows have a Batman-ish lighting situation like the rest of the Arrowverse. Even when Superman gets a movie...they make him more like Batman, while writers talk about how much they don't like Superman while praising Batman. Why bother reading characters turned into Batman when you can just read Batman.

I think the real reason they're going "kill the Justice League" is out of spite towards the fans. They know that the industry is circling the drain and they know what they can do to at least try to reverse their fortunes. But they won't because that would ultimately mean they would have to admit we were right. So, this is basically just one last defiant middle finger towards us before the industry finally goes under.

Based on what I've seen of the solicitations, up to the point I got bored on 90% the same title - wanna take a wild guess what that title, or it's affiliates were? They're putting out like 50 + books a month and 45 of them are Bats in the belfrey. (Estimated number; I know it's more than that but the point carries) I know it's called DC but nevermind the Hades allusion that's comparable in the Trinity myth but I'm pretty sure they switched him out as Atlas (Batman is Hades; Diana is Hera, Flash Hermes, Aquaman = Poseidon, Clark's son is Mr. I'm going to shove a lightning bolt up your... oh, wait. That's not my lightning bolt) * With the way she's written sometimes I'd almost sooner call Diana = Megara, but that's probably too deep a dive into Myth for most folks. Besides, Granny Goodness would just cry copyright infringement...

Remember a few years ago when it looked like DC was doing not only a return to form but releasing new interesting characters who weren't focused on identity politics? When they gave superman a son and wrote interesting stories about it? When Deathstroke got the attention he deserved? When they created a second Justice League that was interesting in it's own way and not meant to replace the normal Justice League (fuck yeah Lobo). When they created new characters like Silencer that were really well written suspense stories? When Superwoman, a story that started slowly becoming more about politics than it was about Lana Lang getting super powers, got cancelled because of low sales? And even stole Marvels thunder by giving us a Fantastic Four when Marvel was too childish to do so (The Terrifics)? What happened to that? What happened to Rebirth? Hell, sales for Rebirth were through the roof, DC was topping the charts. What happened?

I wanna be angry at DC Comics, but I can't. I feel nothing. All they had to do was not go full re...I mean full Marvel. Not only did DC go full Marvel, they quadrupled down on it. And it's a shame cause I've always preferred DC over Marvel as a kid. I see no hope for DC...well actually there is hope. You get rid of the no talent hacks infesting your company and maybe there's hope. But I think it's far too late for that.

I'm surprised they're even writing anything that isn't Batman, since DC's target model has been Batman fanboys for over a decade now. Back when they were doing the New 52 reboot, they had almost 20 different series about Batman or ancillary Gotham characters. Meanwhile, all the cool interesting series they made like Demon Knights and Frankenstein Agent of SHADE were cancelled after a year or two. Heck, some series didn't even make it a full year, like Dial H and Lobo. I gave up on the New 52 (and DC in general) right around the Forever Evil event. The entire point of the New 52 reboot was to make things less confusing, but they kept canceling series, shoving characters into other series, and running tons of crossover events that made you read every single comic if you didn't want to be confused. Oh and the New 52 is also when they introduced edgy, slutty Harley. Fairly early on in the Suicide Squad run, she ties up Deadshot, slaps Joker's face on him (his literal face, after he'd cut it off) and forces him to roleplay as Joker while she rapes him. I stopped reading after that issue.

I wanna hope they're not targetting the younger audience, considering all their books these days seem to be focus on what goes on in the bedroom. Or... in prison. Their stuff seems more like erotic fan fiction, than superhero comics. I've seen more accurate and respectful pron-parodies than the stuff DC and Marvel are currently trying to sell.

The issue is not comics trying to be more inclusive. As a black person, I love seeing Marvel/DC add fresh diversity into their lineup of characters. Again I repeat the issue is not diversity (if u believe the problem is diversity itself you are a bigot) The problem is how they often go about adding diversity/inclusion is badly written and haphazardly done. That is what leads to lower sales, unsatisfied fans, and overall shitty comics.

Honestly I think they should go down a similar path to manga, where instead of getting the same superhero stories with the same super heroes retold, we get completely new or even non hero stories Like imagine if manga was only One piece, Naruto, or dragon ball. it would be so boring, so intstead give us comics with plots and characters that aren't intrinsically hero related, like how we got Demon slayer, Promised Neverland, or doctor stone, if manga was like comics, these would NEVER exist. This being said, i'm not saying super hero comics are bad, just over done. Just because a comic is a "comic" does not mean it has to be a super hero story.
