I flew Emery Cargo DC-8s as a Flight Engineer from Sept 1989 to Oct 1991. During that time I had numerous arguments with maintenance about their practices and procedures. As a FE on the USAF C-141B I knew about proper operating practices and it was obvious Emery was violating those practices continuously. I once flew a DC-8 back from Albuquerque through Denver with a sick engine (basically on three engines) to Dayton, OH for maintenance. So sad the crew had to loose their lives because of the inadequate maintenance practices that had been going on for years. When I left Emery it was because the company that was contracted to fly Emery’s DC-8s had gone under, called Flagship Express, originally Rosenbaugh Aviation out of Yipsilanti, MI. Right after I was laid off from Flagship Express I was called by Emery for an interview but I had taken an Air Force Reserve trip on the C-141B to Spain. After that I never heard from Emery and changed careers to IT Information Systems where I retired 30 years later.

This channel is so underrated. This was really good video. Thought that I was watching Air Crash Investigation.

Good channel for watching any underrated/under reported air accidents or air disasters that probably never have or had been talked about, including some airliners both past and present.

Feel so sorry for them and their families. They bravely kept the plane in the air much longer than most pilots would be able to do so. The professionalism right to the end was magnificent. They almost made it back flying a broken and massive airplane. RIP to the crew.

Sad. I see that on a lot of your posts, it's not the pilots but the aircraft that fails.

I work/worked for USPS and at time of crash Emery was awarded this huge contract with USPS, and suddenly they disappeared…now I know why…this was a sad video especially when I thought pilots were gonna land at airport. I thought a ditching might have been more feasible (I am not a pilot)
