I remember when they did this. Very impressive. I’m sure they had to convince the pilot to take his foot off the brake for about 10 minutes after it stopped. Such a short runway but well done landing.

The sad thing about this unique event and process is that ultimately, it all boiled down to an exhibit that offers nothing more than the opportunity for museum visitors to walk down the aisle of the plane, viewing unrealistic seating arrangements and nothing else. The rest of the exhibit does little or nothing to take advantage of the artifact. Unfortunately, this is the way most of the Museum of Science and Industry is managed, and has been for a long time....an excellent collection of artifacts, hampered by missed opportunities and a philosophy of 'dumbing down' everything far below the lowest common denominator.

I know what you mean. It's so sad to see this museum go downhill over the years I used to love coming here when I was a kid but now it seems MSI has really lost there way. I Hate what they did to the zephyr exhibit!

They recently redid the 727 exhibit for that exact reason. For kids of my generation, just having the plane to run around in was pretty cool. But as the plane aged and the airline industry changed, they found it was increasingly irrelevant to museum visitors of today. I saw the new exhibit recently and it’s much more impressive now. They’ve cut away sections of the cabin walls and floors so you can see some of the parts inside the plane. You can look inside the tail cone to see the air stairs, black box, and center engine, and you can watch the gear extend and retract through a window in the floor. The number one engine also has a section cut away so you can see the inside of a jet engine (albeit an outdated one). There is still a lot of room for improvement but the new exhibit is definitely a step in the right direction!

They should have kept the Saul Bass livery...it was iconic with the Tulip.

Great, Another AC that I likely turned a wrench on in a Museum. Getting Old!

Still a cool Museum, but still not nearly as great as it was in the 70s and 80s. Which is odd as it was free back then and now with all the money they charge you would think it would be better, not worse

It has never been an impressive display of the airplane. The museum has never had creative leadership.

All that money spent to put it INSIDE main museum would have been better spent on just building its own building, and leaving it assembled. Bad move stripping it down to only fuselgae.👎🏿
