Plaza Capuchinos is one of the oldest public spaces in Caracas. It first appeared on maps in 1776 and is located opposite the Church of Saint John. It is triangular and is delimited by three streets. The plaza is in an ideal position where the Guaire River makes a wide curve, on the crest of a wide plain at the foot of El Ávila hill. The square is the center where the capital city was born, since the Spanish built from the main square the rest of the buildings of the time around it. In 1954, the square looked different than it does today.
