My pump doesn't lose water flow. It trips a GFCI circuit breaker. It started doing this after about a year. I asked about this and was told to clean the pump. I did it. That seemed to help for a while but then the ground fault recurred and tripped the breaker about every day and then twice a day. The water flow is not impaired and when I plug the pum in to a circuit with an AFCI breaker (arc fault instead of ground fault) the breaker never trips. It's not that the pump is always squeaky clean when I open it up. However, there is no debris in the line, the impeller is not fouled, and there doesn't seem to be anything other than pond slime in the "motor" area. Because the flow is not reduced during these ground fault episodes and the problem doesn't occur on an AFCI circuit (or a circuit with an unprotected breaker of the same amperage), I am forced to conclude that there is something defective in the electrics of the pump that is simulating a current fault where there is no actual circuit overload. What I can't explain is that cleaning the pump seems to extend the time before the fault recurs for longer. Although I have had it throw a current fault within a few hours after a cleaning and then go for weeks without a fault. It's on the same circuit as my waterfall pump (pushing lots more volume uphill) but the circuit never fails when only the waterfall pump is plugged in. And the combined amperage is way under the circuit capacity.

@@thepondguy Okay. Thanks! I just cleaned it yesterday afternoon and it tripped the breaker today again. I took pictures of it when disassembled to show that it was cleaned as shown in the video.
