Today let's talk about Julian Barnes's 7th book called The Porcupine. Admittedly it was a harder read for me but that's because of the Eastern European politics. This genre is political fiction and I needed to research Eastern European politics of the 1990s to get into this book which is based on Bulgarian politics.
Reading this made me think of the collections of books I have. I have my favourite authors (Barnes is one) but it's unlikely I'd read this book again so I may not keep it with other books of his that I do like. However, if politics is your thing, then you may like this. If anything, it made me realise just how much the world has changed since those days of the 1990s when communist countries were breaking up and moving to market economies. Years down the track, I'm left wondering, has this been of value or or not?
