I recently read a great book which talks about this a lot. It’s called Mjndset, by Carol Dweck. Definitely recommend!

@@TheTennisMentor should this conversation start before the match/tournament and be a continuation of a topic regarding development process rather than winning/losing, sort of towards what you mention at the end.

Really great video. So important to be allow the youngster to just "be" after a match, as so many tennis parents I've seen are too overbearing or interrogative.

I can imagine it’s tough not to share your emotions as a parent, but it’s important to remember that it’s the kids match, not yours! Thanks for watching!

Their Performance is more important than their Result" -- beautifully said! A good thing to keep in mind for ourselves too, as we often lose that perception!

Sound advice even for adults. I always look at the process in my own game. Basically dissect my choices in shot selection based on court position and match condition. I don't think about the score much. I try to improve these areas of my game. I figure even if I make an error on the shot, I value the right decision. And eventually, I will improve my technique to where the shot is successful. Yes, pushing is a terrible strategy. And it has very limited potential. I would steer everyone away from being pushers. (Though one can make a good case that Joker is an advanced pusher and look where it's gotten him) Relative to Fed, everyone is a beginner. And you have to accept that no matter how good you think you are, there's someone much better than you. You have to learn to close the imaginary gap and strive to be the best you can be.

I would advise changing the title and the thumbnail of this video, because it's really interesting and it took me three weeks to click on it mainly because of the title. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I believe they can be applied to other areas of life as well. Good luck with your channel!

@@TheTennisMentor i don't know. Usually titles like 5 tips for tennis coaches/parents or (insert a number) mistakes you should really avoid after a tennis match. Starting with a number seems to gather more clicks but you have more experience. Maybe you can add timestamps, not sure if that helps!
