Hi Simone, it is not easy to go and talk to strangers in first place, don't blame yourself. It is great that you understand the problem and now all you need is an effort to solve it. Practice, learn, practice and learn! You will see that with time, you will get much better and it will come naturally to you to approach and talk to guests. Start with simple things like questions about the food, drinks or even the weather and let the guests lead you to the conversation. Good luck!

@@DanteAndTheTrees I got a new job now. At the start of the pandemic, the restaurant did manage to survive with gourmé - meal boxes, but they hardly made any money. And then the government told us to not sell any alcohol, so they had shut down. I feel sorry for the owner, it was a great place to have bbq and steaks, locally sourced meat, but hope and good will didn't pay the bills. It was a good job with good co-workers and manager, which I think made me like this job, and I was sad to go.

The goal isn’t to be perfect it’s to be genuine and the more you can just do things even if they aren’t perfect the better the more you think about things the more things slow down and there more opportunity for scrutiny. It’s like dating a girl, you have to just accept whatever happens happens, if you can master this in sales you’ll be able to tap into that flow state more easily

So, when you serve food on the table, what you should say is the dish name! While you are putting the dish in front of the guest, you could say: -You steak medium well, sir! -Thanks -You are welcome, sir. You can keep a track of who ordered what by using my system of taking the order. Watch the video : how to take a food order to understand how. You should never ask guests who has what, once you have taken the order. As a waiter you can always approach the guests and ask them how is their food. did they enjoy it and so on. Maybe some more wine, or anther drink! Watch and listen some of the more experienced waiters in your restaurant and follow their lead!

Griz, I could do that but it won't help you really much. What you should do is say f**k it I can do this and start serving the guests. You will improve rapidly and never look back.
