Tax the Very Rich 73% to 90% on incomes of tens of millions a year, as we did before Reagan and suddenly there will be A LOT more money left in companies and the economy to pay living wages. That's literally how the New Deal was funded. Today there's nothing stopping them from squeezing every dime of our common future out for themselves so they do. We used to FORCE them to share the proceeds of capitalism instead, and we can do it again. Ironically the One Percent payed a much lower real tax rate with most tax revenue under the New Deal coming from the middle class BUT that's only because the top rate prevented the One Percent from even trying to pay themselves as much as they wanted like they do now, and that money went to the growing middle class instead of being hoarded away by the very rich today. Tax the Rich a putative 90% income tax rate on unrestrained greed and the middle class will grow again. It couldn't be simpler. Just don't let them stack up tax loopholes that let them found BS think tanks to manufacturer and sell the Trickldown Economics that has been killing the middle class for the last forty years

But right now and for at least one or two more election cycles that is in shambles thanks to that idiot Trump who trampled that arrangement while freeing the beast of rightwing crazies who have no idea it's all supposed to be fake and scripted like pro wrestling...or even that pro wrestling is scripted... Anyway, point is the reason the teamsters just got so much from UPS that the union negotiators were shocked is that the status quo is stuck in a freefall and they're desperately hoping we don't catch on before they can get some semblance of control back. Don't give them that time. Tax the snot out of the One Percent and keep that money in the economy and out of politics making every other issue ten times easier to solve too.

We've fallen so far from where we used to be in the US that young workers think this is how it is, and there can't be anything better but thats what the corporations have fought for in recent decades with the help of corrupt politicians and so if the fight can go in their favor it can also go in the workers favor with the right kind of pressure. It makes me curious, if reverse adjusted for inflation, how much would the robber barons of our past be worth? If it's comparable to what the fat cat executives are making today, it could put their wealth in a context that would be easily dismantled. Americans already learned that fat cat robber barons are bad. Let's recreate history and put the greedy rich of today back in their lanes again, just like we did in the past.

We don't get 8 hours of recreation though because we have to waste a minimum of an hour getting ready and getting to work, and a minimum of an hour getting home and settled back in. So really, we should only be working 6 hours. The world would literally keep spinning and life would not change in the slightest if people only worked 30 hours a week... but billionaires would need to go extinct so money could be distributed responsibly and properly
