Cheapened the beautiful natural wood grain. The rough burlap looks like she's covering up a defective surface, and a burlap surface only collects dust and mites. The natural wood is cleaner, richer, warmer and more elegant.

There are a lot of youtuber, who just want some fame and use shorts of furniture flipping to get views, but the job done was just crap. In this video she sanded and painted the front of the drawer??? It's going to be covered anyway... So many of those furniture flip videos are bullshit, they are just want to make it look as this was something thoughtful, but it really isn't. Algorithm keeps pushing things, people react negative...

If you put modpodge over it, it will seal it so you can wipe it off easier with a slightly damp cloth.

I’m sure she knows what she’s doing, but when people wear open-toed sandals while using power tools, it always makes me anxious for them. I want to scream at the screen, “Wear sneakers or something!” As for the hack, the results were nice but I don’t know how the average person would replicate that look without all those specialty saws.

A hand saw, a plane and plenty of time would get you there. The bench tools give you accurate results very quickly but aren’t the only way.

ANYONE can make these! Just takes time & effort. As for the tools, you really only need a few things. Start with the basics, and instead of buying an electric saw (not yet), check out a cheap, plastic miter box! You're going to eventually need one, and it comes with a saw! Good luck!

Cutting the overlay top, tapering the legs and having the drawers close flush is not modernization. Reason for overlay of top can sometimes make it easier to pickup and move. But it goes to taste really. Nice changes.

You pinpointed the things I could never quite put my finger on that bothered me about these nightstands. I want to change the feet but don’t have access to these kinds of tools but I really like the look of making the drawer flush!

You could easily achieve the same by using plain old sand paper. Just sand away until the drawer fits into the opening and the legs are shaped the way you like…. No fancy tools needed at all :)

It's called 'Up-cycling'. You buy furniture (usually second-hand) that needs some TLC or could use with some, say, modernising. People do it because they want something unique, as a side-hustle or because they enjoy being creative. It's also good for the environment in the sense that less unwanted furniture is going into landfill.
