The pharaohs response that they were just slaves and therefore not human is the reason Moses never speaks to him again. Because he basically was described as not human either.

They played this moment so perfectly, the rising dread of realising someone you love is not only a bad person, but a complete monster

The saddest part is that Seti is genuinely trying to reassure Moses, but chooses the worst words possible. In fact, it’s even likely that he knows NO explanation will fix Moses’ despair.

Deep down Pharaoh knows it - that when his time at the scales comes Anubis will heart to be heavy with the weight of all his crimes and his heart will be eaten. He knows it deep down, but he won't admit it to anyone, not even himself. He consoles himself by saying "they were only slaves" and with the belief that he is 'the morning and the evening star', but you saw the way he starred off - deep down he knows Anubis will let his heart be eaten. Sometimes I wonder if the Egyptian Gods are real in this story as well as the Christian God, but they knew that what had been done to the Hebrew was wrong so that was why they stayed silent and let the Christian God send the plagues without doing anything to stop him. I don't know much about Egyptian religion but in their mythology did they actually say or do anything that showed they supported slavery? Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of Christians have used God and the Bible to justify slavery (in the South in America and in England - around Jane Austen's time slavery was banned in England but there was nothing preventing them from using slave labour in countries they'd colonised, and in order for England to have abolished slavery they first would have had to have slaves), but I thought that Christians saw themselves as better than 'pagans' like the Greeks, Norse people, Romans and Egyptians, so why did they use slavery? Didn't they read Exodus?

What makes this scene eerie is that Seti thinks he’s being comforting to Moses.

When I first saw this movie, I was like... OH MY GOD, how could he murder all those incident babies, and how could he say that to Moses.
@harithdanial141
My first impression of Pharaoh at beginning, if you learn history properly and understand it, you can see how many leader especially back then who actually not evil but did stuff like this not because their want, but it's the only way for stability in their time. But the moment he said to moses “Their were only slave ” in chilling way, it's show how inhuman he is. He not just did it because it's necessary but rather because he feel that people he called lower class is not same as him and his people and their deserve to be treated in horrible way. This is exactly same with Nimrod and Nero

For this evil, Pharoah Seti did, he now is spending eternity being tormented in Khet the Egyptian equivalent of Hell in the company of Set the god of evil/the devil & his demons.

Seti's quote isn't even the chilling part of this. It's the nonchalant tone and the implied meaning that not just him but those that have come before and those around him have the same views. The inane ramblings of an old man have no sway. The doctrine of a Pharoah is the law.
