Prison, the Care System and Rehab are full of people like John. Bad Parenting should be considered a criminal offence and treated as such.

Bloody hell if he was telling the truth about the stuff that happened to him when he was a little kid then thats very rough, being hit with a hot bit of metal and then locked outside is cruel af. Kids don't deserve that no matter what they've done.

I feel so sorry for John and wonder what became of him. His wife is wonderful and a gift from the gods for a man like John but he needed intensive therapy at a time when it didn't seem to figure in anyone's calculations. The damage done to children in such abusive circumstances is often beyond repair

Been walloped with a red hot coal shovel on your bare backside I would suggest would traumatise you as a kid,he didn't deserve that even the headmaster tried his bloody hardest and he seemed a very decent fellow, don't judge is what I say until you've walked a mile in John's childhood shoes, poor fellow after been dragged up like that I suppose a lot of blokes would struggle on the straight and narrow.

Hmmm, very interesting programme. This man's main problem's appear to be that he has a narcissistic personality and is a recidivist. Combined with an overwhelming sense of resentment and a quick temper. A complete lack of responsibility and respect for the law , or any consequences for himself or anybody else whenever he breaks it. Had an absolutely appalling start in life but in adulthood that becomes a peg for him to hang the blame on this for everything wrong he's ever done and consequently he would not have managed to change for the better!. Poor bugger, and lots of sympathy for his poor wife and children.

Sounds like he was his own worst enemy. Lots of people have had horrific childhoods and ended up the kindest most loving people one would ever hope to meet. It's not hard to see the temper seething under everything he says

John undoubtedly had ptsd. I had some sympathy until the strangling incident and picking on his son for no reason. I wonder if Dot stuck around and what their children would say now about their childhoods.
