The reason that the World and Rise fanbases are at each other's throats is primarily because there are a bunch of new players that came in with both games that don't understand the distinction between a mainline title and a portable title. TLDR mainline titles try to stick closer to the core ideas of the series while portable titles are much more experimental. A portable title being a certain way doesn't mean that future mainline titles will follow suit and vice versa. Its been that way for over a decade.

Portable is usually good at making the game easier to play, with mostly reused monsters. Also, yeah. Compere mainline to portable, mainline definitely felt more experimental, the core of the game is the same, but it's usually mainline game making big changes for each game, time changes in MHdos, underwater combat in MHtri, vertical movement and mount in MH4, portable don't usually do this kind of changes, it has risk for not being enjoyable, which I think is also why portable doesn't have any original large monster like lao shan long. Rise is very unique but also not that different for a portable series, it has many World monsters, environment advantage of World, wire bug is like World but you can swing anywhere... I think after MH4 is when portable started to experiment with mainline game's mechanic more, in earlier title they don't really include the mechanic in it.

personally i agree with all this, what i often keep realizing when i wonder why people have the "risebreak vs worldborn" argument, is that the newer generation of players who start with World are also players that gravitate to the more western style of game design that world leaned heavily into, so when rise came in and somewhat went back to the normal monster hunter style, world players got upset because its not the AAA MHW 2 i'm guessing this is a case of people gauging a game based on graphics, story and size, everything world focused on that rise didn't, me personally, after playing both games (i made it to iceborn but not sunbreak yet) i like rise more, purely because i found world to be clunky, slow and makes weapons like Hunting Horn and Hammer IMPOSSIBLE to use, that and iceborn spiked hard in its difficulty when the viper tobi and coral pukei got introduced, those two genuinely made me stop playing MHW and made me wish those two monsters never return

legit just put poison res 3 on and viper tobi is a pushover. Don't have negative water res and coral pukei is piss easy as well. Wym they're difficulty spikes lmao. As for hammer (can't speak for HH as I've not played it) it's very heavily reliant on knowing monster movesets and exploiting it, much like GS is. Usable without that, but you'll never get that power fantasy. There's definitely some not so great matchups for the weapon, but it's like that for all of them (except maybe bowguns)

@@roar104 while that info does raise some good points, i never knew that about viper tobi or coral pukei, one thing i should clarify is i don't often care about optimization, i just make a build that works for me, if its got the stats but the skills are useless to me, then i don't use it, but even if i knew this info like poison res for viper or water res for coral, it wont do me much good as viper tobi is still fast as hell and coral pukei is like fighting a supped up power washer! so i wouldn't go as far as calling them "piss easy" regardless if i knew or not as for what i said about hammer and hunting horn, alright ill concede there, i often main charge blade and sometimes switch axe, so i'm pretty used to fast weapons with big damage, so suddenly have my speed and combo variety chopped in half (and in the case of hunting horn) have to stop every minute to play a tune only to get bodied by an anjanath is not my cup of tea in all honesty, i'm just not a horn/hammer main so my opinion on them is strictly based on my experience, bear in mind i did try them out in the training room

I feel like I'm in the minority here. I've played Monster Hunter Tri, 4Ultimate, MHGenerations, World, and Rise. When a new monster hunter game comes out, I ditched the old entry, never touching it again and only play the new one. So when Rise came out, I stopped playing World entirely and only played Rise. I felt like many players had that kind of mentality as well. Ditch the old, and play the new because my thought process was, "Who's playing the old anymore when there's a new entry now?" MH World changed things I feel because it was many players first Monster Hunter game and Rise when it came out, was a huge changed of pace to players who started with world. I think there were a lot of those players didn't like the way Rise played or found it too different and went back to playing world. For me, I played World, had a great time but ditched it the moment Rise came out because that's just how I treat Monster hunter games. There are things I liked better in World, but I was satisfied with my time with it and moved on to newer things. My stance on whether a person should play World or Rise is to just play whatever you find the most fun. I hope that the newest entry, Monster Hunter Wild has the expansive, and immersive landscape of World, but the fast flashy combat of Rise because that's what I think would be the most fun.

Like, it is a spin off on paper, but not really at the end of the day. It's a return to form to the way these games used to release, with console titles being the slower paced, more simulator-like experiences, while the portable ones being quicker, flashier and with some experimental side-mechanics (sometimes main ones). But many mechanics, monsters and gameplay changes from the portable titles do end up reappearing on later console titles in some form, so that's why I wouldn't just throw the "spin-off" label on them and move on. Palicos, weapons' moveset and gameplay tweaks like changing from analog stick to buttons for attacks or some Hunter Arts from XX becoming part of the regular moveset of some weapons, a lot of beloved monsters like Tigrex, Nargacuga, Zinogre, or odd ones like Lagombi, Arzuros, Akantor, and even more stuff I can't put my finger on right now all came directly from the portable games, and who knows what Wilds will inherit from Rise. For now at least, the Palamutes seem to have given them a gateway in how to implement a bird wyvern mount, which was planned in early concepts since MH1, but never seen the light of day till now.

PC port was late and xbox playerbase was nonexistent at launch, so World was essentially a playstation exclusive in many people's minds. the same goes for Rise, which basically a Switch timed-exclusive. so although it looks like just another monster hunter argument at the surface, many times it's actually instigated by the old sony fanboy vs nintendo fanboy war. which justifies letting the arguments die on its own, even more. fanboys just wants recognition. justification for the only console they have. if we don't give them any, they'll whither and die on their own. ====================== due to the intricate nature of the games, arguments will always exist. but when MH was niche, i still remember how the old veterans insist on teaching politeness to new players. before they told me the best armor skills, or how to speedbomb, they taught me to say "hi" and "bye", "please" and "thanks". and that's what i've been doing for over 15 years: instead of highlighting the arguments within the communities, i teach new players to be polite and civil. don't trip people, don't upswing them, don't leech. be useful, be nice, be passionate about the game. i strongly believe we all could always use some of those.

Yeah every mh game will be slightly different. Rise is grear but its the most different of them all. Even all the other second team games. And while there are thinfa i like in it, i cant stand the break of the main combat philosophy we hand since mh 1. In mh games you every move is a comitiment, made a wrong move? You get punished. Rise breaks that a lot, and sure the subreak has harder monsters that are on cocaine to compensate for that, but that doesnt make it good. In a game where what weapon you are using and how you use it being the most important decision and the monstera are built around that , not mobility moves or mounts that anyone has acceas too. Rise adds so many moves and yet its the game where the weapons have the most same or samey feeling moves... (Every bodybhas to have a counter or two coz fuck lance i guess) and thats not even talking sbout the heresy thst is rise's hh. Went from a super unique weapon, methodical and skillful to a heavy db where the music part is not even secondary to the weapon. Lance got ridiculized, but hh got character assassinated. Heck change de looka of the monsters and weapons and shufle the moves around a bit and it could easily be a mh clone lime wild hearths or dauntless.

Hum. If you dislike the Monster Hunter community for what it is, you should realistically be disliking almost every community in existence, because they all work like that. I'm not saying you're wrong for having this opinion, it's just that the MH community does nothing different from other communities. It has its fair share of toxic people, of elitists and of speedrunners that call non-speedrunners trash (alongside the actual chill people and professionals and runners, before people misunderstand that line as general hatred for the community), and it wasn't necessarily too different before MH went mainstream, either. Even today you can look up posts that where made, I don't even know, ten years ago and they are just as toxic and elitist and hateful. Is that a good thing? No, of course not. But you present it as it would be something... unknown, something that requires special mention. As for the video itself... I think you could improve your formula a lot. You're not really saying too much. Not only because snails probably move faster than you speak (no shade, I just find the comparison funny), but... like... how to put this. It's just very basic, very obvious stuff. You take a look at World and make a highly basic summary of it and then you take a look at Rise and make a summary that's just as basic, and then you reiterate that you don't want people to fight. People know this already. All the haters know what Rise does, and all the others on the other side know what World does. Try to get into detail, get mechanical, don't just say that Rise is faster and "why" it is faster, try to be more specific about the benefits of said stylistic choices. Now obviously that won't solve the issue because, y'know, haters gonna hate anyway. Most of them know that Rise has its benefits, as does World, and some of those haters might even play both games themselves, they just want to be elitists for the sake of being elitists. You gotta live with that, because there's no workaround. The anonymity granted by the internet is powerful, people can finally act harsh and hard and mean and mighty without having to put the entirety of their face on the line. So if you make a video like that, at least try to reach the very few people that may not be trolls but might actually be reached using logic and presentation. All this video does is speaking to the people that already are of the same opinion as you are. Those are just my personal and subjective takes, of course. Do with them what you will.

Chunk of players bias over 1 specific title, while bashing other titles is not a new stuff. Back when World release, 4th gen Hunter rant over how MHW simplified control and allowing running around while drinking potions. Hell even 4th gen MH also been talked shit over PSP era hunters for 3ds exclusivity And don't forgot in one point, the Freedom Unite fans have borderline cultist mentality. Older player will shit over new game, and trust me! It will happen to MH wild So sit back, and enjoy the flame war😊

Rise is more accessible, pick up and play. World is up to a point in MR. Think some players like the gatekeeping or "git gud" mindset. It happened with Elden Ring where some Dark Souls vets vocalized their disapproval of it at first as it isn't a "true souls game". My gripe with World is that it really is a slow game, and some content they made with having multiple players in mind with coordination efforts like the sieges and Altereon. As if World was meant to be like a pseudo MMO. With the player base dipping real low on consoles, getting help is difficult solo unless you have willing friends to go back and help. Also I think there are those who hate Nintendo and like high end graphics too, the MHW subreddit was salty for a while until Rise's PC release.

The whole "Graphics" argument is one of the worst I personally think, I think world is visually better than Rise but Rise has its own style that I also like. As well I feel like the styles represent the gameplay with world being more real the combat is slower and more of a battle while Rise is a little more Cartoony but the combat is fast and crazy

As a veteran of the series, I tend to prefer the main team's style over the portable team as a whole. I don't dislike Rise, I just like it less than World's living, breathing ecosystem.

I honestly think World its the best monster hunter to date even with all its defect clutch claw and tenderizing was a shitty decision if you forgot to eat its cool you dont need to quit the quest the chest in the missions should be removed because its too op should be allowed only in special hunts like Kulve Alathtreon Safy ect or in the expedition and guiding lands thats the extent thats permissible others things are not so important or are easy to fix like elemental damage doing a light nerf to the armors i cant go around with every freaking ability in the game im a hunter nor Rambo and the Farming of jewels and the likes of it should be craftable like gen 2
@Balasdor

I think personally the clutch claw is fine if you kinda ignore it and don't treat each hunt like you are trying to speedrun it and tenderize right at the start, I think there is a unhealthy "optimized" hunting strategy. Where I would say instead just take the hunt at your own pace and enjoy it.

@@Balasdor Na bro a hunt should be optimized i dont like do useless things if not ill go and do G rank Teostra with bone weapons and without armor but thats not fun i want my hunt my weapon to be at the peack you cant just ignore it if it is op why should i let the hunt last 10 minutes more if i can waste 30 seconds to slam the monster in to a wall and di 35K of damage an opening shouldn't be like this an opening should be created by your own skill like i attack the legs and the monster fall or i stunn the monster in some way or preparation like traps etc

"World is a better place to start for people new to the series." Aside from the multiplayer gatekeeping, this was once the case when the only alternatives were handhelds with clunky mechanics and spreadsheets. Rise gets you into the fight immediately, whether it's the campaign or multiplayer, everything is spelled out for the player and easy to grasp, you can teleport to different vendors and rooms, the game is unbelievably dumbed down for the players and if they had skipped World and released Rise instead, I'm sure there'd be even more backlash than there was initially for World. No one likes change. "Before World, Monster Hunter was a very niche game." Who actually thinks this? Between the video game tie-ins, the constant ad placement, and almost everything released from Japan containing some mention of MH, it's hardly a 'niche game'. Sure the earliest titles weren't discussed much and were skipped over by most people, but they were really only about as niche as the handhelds they were released on, but that can be said about any series that opted for the portable route back then. "We just need to be kinder to each other, we need to be more accepting of each other. Please respect each others' game preferences, respect each other as a person." No, it's no different from comparing one show or season to another show or season. You're the only one to blame if you're actually getting offended about what people are saying about the series. When World released everyone seemed to hate it, now Rise is out and the same thing is happening, I'm sure if you looked back at the earlier installments there'd be a similar divide. No one wants a new game, they all want the game they enjoyed the most to get a sequel. Every series has their vocal gatekeepers in the community, the only difference here is that MH ranges from 'Excel sheets of meta data' to 'hit a big monster with a weapon', it's not as cut and dried as 'which shooter do you prefer'.

rofl, Complaining about people arguing over what they think is right or better. Welcome to the world. You gonna dislike car people, software devs, chefs , Engineers..... pretty much everyone. Everyone has a preference and there will be people around to disagree with those preferences. Didn't watch much further than you complaining about how a community argues amongst themselves. I'm too old for something this immature. I play Monster hunter, I enjoyed all of them. They all have their pros and cons. My pros and cons will most likely differ from what you consider pros and cons but you know what? I don't care what you think is bad or good about the game and you shouldn't care what anyone else thinks about the game either. If you enjoy it, then enjoy it. If you don't then move onto something else that you do enjoy. Life is way too short to worry about what other people think about a game you enjoy.
