kurayamidesu no it's more than that a bit. The gay jokes didn't age as well as the original, plus the movie was made as a movie. To everyone asking why anyone would make a remake of this: That is kind of what people here on earth do, mates. How many High Schools have acted out 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'The Wizard of Oz'? For the love of theatre, people are still acting out Shakespeare plays, and he died in the 17th century. For more on this, visit your local church or temple to see performances of the Torah and Gospels acted out, both of which were recorded over two millennia ago. Human beings love to imitate things. Cheers.

Bialystock’s frustrated quip of “I frighten YOU?!” sells the irony of how easily Leo could frighten anybody with his trigger hair, explosive anxiety attacks. He can’t believe that an accountant could get like this, but quickly complies with Leo’s demands for him to sit down. Something about Nathan Lane’s approach to portraying Max Bialystock just does it right here, even though the acting is stunted from Susan Stroman’s particular direction.
