Brian May's comments on the Gloucester show: Great final show tonight on the Queen Extravaganza tour of the UK. It was in Gloucester. I was happy to be in the audience - it was well worth the trip. They performed the album “A Night at the Opera” in its entirety ! I don’t think I’ll ever hear The Prophet’s Song played to that degree of excellence again. Great musicianship, great dedication to detail, and nice presentation all round. Well done QE team. Rock on !

This song is far harder to perform live than many realize - especially for Mr. Martel. This song demands a huge range and the ability to sing in time with carefully set echo effects that allow the singer to sing harmony with himself live. It is much harder to do than it looks and this group does a terrific job. I would not have believed that this difficult song could be performed live again after Freddy passed and the guys do a great job here. I do wish they would come to Detroit...I'd love to hear this live. Apparently lightning struck twice when Freddy and Marc's voices were created. Great stuff. It must be very gratifying for the guys in Queen to hear this music sung and performed.

Enivan Nogueira Technically, he just naturally sounds like Freddie. While when he was singing with Queen Extravaganza, he was trying to sound closer to him, yes, but, the fact of the matter is that even if he wasn't singing a Queen song, he'd unintentionally sound like Freddie at points. Just listen to his iteration of Take on Me. He just has a similar singing voice, end of story. I don't mean to sound rude, however, I just wanted to clear that up, because, well, sounding like someone doesn't mean you're always an imitator

I just watched it again today. The impact this song had on me as a kid was just immense. Before yesterday i had not heard it for maybe 30 years but I still to this day I remember the now i knows.... who could forget that? Notes on the performance... well the singer is for sure charasmatic. But he is so as his own man, thankfully not jumping around in leotards or trying to ape Freddie's mannerisms.. The A capella section was stunning. Of course its a cover song but this band transcended above a mere cover tune. These dudes totally and completely believed it and I don't know if it was paying homage or... I don't know. Guitar playing (including bass) was superb, the dude had massive tone and just crushed those bad ass drop D power chords, played bitchin solos, dynamics... all good. The bassist just stands there and does everything right, like the dude in Queensryche (when i saw them I realized what a consummate professional this guy was). Anyway I don't even want to see the other stuff they have for awhile, just to let this set in. I saw somewhere where Brian May complemented these guys and that is awesome. Final thought... Adam Lambert is a talented kid and I get it that he brings Queen an expanded audience. But based on what I saw here I have no reason to doubt that this singer is just as good on everything else. So... musically I think he's a way better fit than Lambert, closer in age to the other guys and probably bring a bit more soul and wisdom.

THIS is my favorite non-"hit" Queen song, and I would venture to say that THIS is the best this song has EVER been performed live by ANY band, period. - Freddy was the King (Queen?), but live he only ever improvised and interpreted the recorded version that I fell in love with all those years ago. Their live performances of it were very special, like all Queen's live performances, but this is a particularly special song to me that brings back very intense memories of friends that I hung out with in college, partying and grooving on this song. - So, to see and hear this rendition, so faithful to the original, performed live like this _really_ touches my soul. - Thank you Marc & TQE for sharing your extremely special gifts here!

Queen still offers Queen Extravaganza's live concert at London Hammersmith for sale. It is a double cd with the first being A Night At The Opera from beginning to end performed flawlessly, then the second cd is the greatest hits of Queen. You would be HARD pressed to tell the difference from Queen except the recording quality is better BY FAR than all the old Queen live albums. AND Roger Taylor himself says that QUEX plays the music better and more perfectly than Queen ever did. So, you are in good company. Freddie truly is irreplaceable as a performer, but Martel's voice does what many thought could never be done, a close approximation of Freddie. I love their work, and hope they will someday return to the USA after having toured England 3 times, Australia and Europe for the past 4 years. Until then, look for Martel's Ultimate Queen Celebration, they have been doing limited touring in the USA and have a rumored Australia tour coming soon.

@@ToddandRaquiForrest Yeah an approximation but what happens is they simply try to much to imitate Freddie Mercury. Not to mention his voice is not pleasurable. Mercury's had a style and a passion in it, Martel id just a fat man moving around and making an over the top effort to replicate the old. Freddie never tried to deliver an "album perfect" edition of anything . Music is about passion and emotion, not perfection, at least not duing a live performance. Perfection only exists in the studio. A concert is not a live rendition of our album. It's a theatrica! event. Freddie Mercury I have fun with my clothes onstage; it's not a concert you're seeing, it's a fashion show. Freddie Mercury That's just another reason why Adam is the chosen one and perfect fit. Brian May has teased that they may add some surprises in 2017...anything is possible.

slynnc kitty Only a person who has no affiliation with music can say that "music is about passion and emotion, not perfection, at least not during a live performance." You are the one who screams that Martel's Hornets performance was a disgrace. According to your statement that I just quoted, Marc's performance was amazing since it had plenty of emotion and passion and lacked perfection. But it was in a live setting. So why are you so eager to bring it as an example of Marc's immeasurable failure if perfection in a live performance doesn't matter?" Double standards? Ask any musician, perfection in terms of technique and execution matters. With Freddie it didn't because Freddie was a huge star. Every time Adam goes flat, it doesn't matter how much passion and whatever else you say he has, it plain sucks to listen to. Stop talking about music like you actually know what you talking about. Let me quote you for you, "Stating your opinions as facts", Kitty?

M3 m3 m3 So you'd be okay with someone singing nonsense words with no meaning, passion or emotion as long as they sang it perfectly? ROTFLMAO You don't know all that you think you know. Oh, and it's not that Marc's performance at the Hornet's game was imperfect...he screwed it up big time...total mess up. More than and opinion, a fact: Music: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

Marc Martel. He sang with Downhere, a Christian band from Canada from 1999 to 2011. They won MANY awards, but never fame or money. As the band members began getting married and having kids they took a break. Marc tried out for Queen's official tribute band, Queen Extravaganza, and won of course. Yes he sounds and looks like Freddie, but his voice is unique in that he can sing ALBUM Freddie night after night. Not even Freddie could do that. But of course, Freddie's drinking and smoking and nodules probably didn't help is vocal chords. Search Queen Extravaganza, Marc Martel or Downhere. I highly recommend Marc's "Mercurotti" video, and 90's cover series videos. His 2015 album, Impersonator, is also awesome Muse meets Queen and Jeff Buckley type music.

This Guy Rocked me from head to toe... i couldn't lift my jaw up for a single second ...... I bow my head before the deity of rock Freddie Mercury and Queen who made such type of aliennetic (trying to invent a word ;)) song, and also to him, the front-man of Queen extravaganza Marc Martel .. dude you are doing a really great job, you are brimful of talent. May you be happy always and keep entertaining ys . Love you :)
