The people that made this movie has never really dealt with homeless people before. They seem to think their all just poor people down on there luck and have no choice but to be homeless, the truth is NO not the case at all. Most are addicted to drugs and alcohol and can't deal with the real world, most get help all the time and piss that help away and choice to go back the that behavior. Maybe 5% of the homeless are there due to bad situations but most just have mental health issues that can't be dealt with. The only homeless I feel bad about is children with shitty parents that force them to be homeless by the bad decisions that they make and don't teach the kids the right way of living. Again the is movie is promoted as a feel good movie about the poor that just need a break. I change everyone to go out and try dealing with real homeless people and see how long your empathy lasts. You want to give people money and make yourself feel better for a second that is fine. But you will soon see it will make no difference at all trust me I learned that hard way. Most of these people are users they take and take and think the world somehow owns them. When the truth is there the people you seen all your life that have never tried in school, work or in life in general. They know people will feel sorry for them and take and take. Some of the homeless you see on the streets aren't really homeless the grafters' that use the system to scam good people trying to do the right thing and pat themselves on the back for doing. They make movies about those people too.

"Mental issues that just can't be dealt with"? So I guess you must be speaking as a mental health professional - just a rubbish one who thinks there is nothing that can be done to cure mental illness? And that mental illness never comes from the stress of being poor and homeless in the first place. There are people with serious drug abuse and mental health problems who aren't homeless - because they live in million dollar mansions. Those druggy losers don't get cold or hungry because they inherited a fortune in stocks and shares and property and live very comfortably from the exploitation of consumers and renters and employees alike. And when protecting their profits to maintain their lavish lifestyle means laying people off - or throwing them out of their homes - that's what they do without a qualm and those people they dump on are the ones someone like you can talk shit about when you see them cold and hungry on the streets. House people, feed people, treat all drugs - including alcohol - the same and treat misuse as a health issue. And let the druggies in the mansions pay just a little of their profits back into the pot where they stole it from. It's not rocket science. (How much did that billionaires' boys' club street racing on the edge of space cost?)

Couldn't have said it better myself. Both my parents were homeless repeatedly because of substance abuse and even if people who loved them tried and tried again to get them help, money, assistance. They couldn't keep away from the draw of what the streets held for them there; lured by the promise of never having to worry about bills, and responsibility. My mother is still homeless, my father died homeless, and my twin brother is continuing that cycle. We are exhausting all efforts with him now. Thank you for your bravery of telling it like it is. It's not a situation of this romantisized bullshit we see on TV, rather, it is darker than that and almost impossible to get people the kind of humanitarian help they deserve. The homeless are a product of addiction which leeds to mental health issues as a byproduct. Our governmental system is quite frankly, fucked.
