"I've been, I think, mistaken" may be the funniest fucking line in this entire show. If there's one character archetype that frustrates me to no end, it's the "Obviously wrong but can't admit it" archetype. And it's because, when they finally do admit it, it's not even satisfying or cathartic. You're just like "Yeah, no *shit*, buddy".

I think that's why so many struggle people struggle with Alicent. Like congrats sis it only took you all season to realize this.

@@erwilson25 Yeah, her and Shit-For-Brains really are a match made in heaven because both of them had "life-altering, shocking revelations about themselves" that wouldn't even impress a 6 year old. And we all know Cole will be back to the same BS in Season 3, why wouldn't he be?

I think Larys has Otto locked up. And I would not be surprised if Ulf ends up taking his dragon and switching to the Green's side. Also, I've been hearing that a lot of people are disappointed with this season finale but I thought it was good. Plus, you can tell that they're setting things up for next season. I expect battles in nearly every episode. I can't wait!

The problem is that there were supposed to be two more episodes, but at the last minute, Hbo decided to cut two of them. Add to that the writers strike and by the time it was done there wasn't enough time ot make many real changes to the episodes, leaving us with what we've got. Not bad, but not complete, and likely leaving the 3rd reason a mad rush of action since they apparently are only doing 4 seasons. Having said all that, they should have put a lot more time between Jayce and Cregan, and thats entirely on them for refusing to do so.

Couple things I noticed this episode: - Absolutely loved Alyn's speech to Corlys this episode. Love Corlys but he deserved everything Alyn said to him. - Ulf is gonna be a problem. Rhaenyra gonna have to handle him at some point. - Aemond is still that scared bullied little kid no matter how much of a tough front he puts on and now after what Helena's said to him he's gonna be more desperate. - And I'm sorry the fact that we had multiple scenes with Tyland is ridiculous when we had Rhaena running around the hills and don't even get to see if she actually claims that damn dragon (which btw if she did all this and still doesn't get the dragon that is needlessly cruel).

The fact that Alicent would rather make a deal with Rhaenyra to kill Aegon than her telling him the truth about her misunderstanding what Viserys said is wild to me.

This literally wouldn't make a damn bit of difference??? Back in episode 9 S1, Alicent tells them about Viserys final wish and Tyland says: "Then we may proceed now, with the full assurance of his blessing on our long-laid plans." It *never mattered* what Viserys wanted. The Green Council was plotting to usurp Rhaenyra *regardless* and it had been in plan for *years.* The *only one* who benefitted from this delusion was *Alicent,* because she could use it to make herself feel justified for her treason. On top of that, we literally have *Otto* in episode 2 *laugh in Aegon's face* at the very *notion* that Viserys *actually* changed his mind and chose Aegon, like he literally says "oh is *that* what you think?" Otto *always knew* it was bullshit, but he was not afraid to lie to benefit his cause. Aegon knows Otto isn't a fool, he's served Viserys and Jaehaerys before him. He knows Viserys didn't actually choose him but it *doesn't matter,* he's *king* now, and furthermore, his son was *murdered* by Team Black so he really isn't going to surrender to them.

@@roseofthegarden_ I didn't say it would've made a difference I was speaking in terms of me respecting her more if she told her son the truth because she clearly doesn't plan on ever doing that which is fucked up to me but regardless if Aegon son died or not he still wanted to kill Rhaenyra because he said in the first episode that they should've killed her when they had the chance.

Really enjoyed this finale. I was anticipating more action this season but am happy to be patient for it. It kind of feels like the beginning of the end but we are only half way through the story, so I'm intrigued to see what else is going to happen aside from the obvious impending mosh pit

Alicent went from a woman who would do anything to protect her children to a traitor who is perfectly fine with all of them dying. And it’s not just Aegon who she sentenced either. She also sent Aemond and Daeron(the only other nice child who was having a peaceful life in Oldtown)to their graves as well and may as well have sold off Helaena and Jaehaera into team blacks’ hands as hostages. There is no way her daughter can leave now because most people will see her as an usurper’s wife and a figurehead for the greens since she is their Queen, and want her to die too to prevent Aegon or even Aemond from having more heirs. Alicent is an even worse mother than Cersei was and I honestly pity all of her children in a way. They were always just doomed to die from the start because of their own selfish mother. And Aegon never wanted to be King and yet Alicent forced him into a position he did not even want, and now he has to die for something she made him do. I don’t like Aegon or Aemond, but Alicent really didn’t deserve them or Helaena or Daeron at all.

Love your reactions and thank you for sharing. I hope to see your reactions when Knight of the Seven Kingdoms comes out because it's another great story before OG GoT. I really enjoyed this season and it gave alot of detail info on how each character is dealing with the preparations of war, which next season is going to be bloody, chaos, deception and really sad consequences. As a book reader ( not going to share spoilers), I'm not ready for it. Can't wait for your reactions for season 3!!

I get that you don't like Alicent or Cole but you're totally ignoring the themes and central messages their characters are expressing - themes that are central not only to HOTD but the world GRRM has built. You're allowing your hatred for characters to make you miss some incredibly written and well delivered dialogue "the dragons dance and men are like dust under their feet, all our fine thoughts and endeavours are as nothing" that captures the POV of most small-folk soldiers and knights who are about to fight in this war, it will be existentially horrifying for them BUT Criston (and many others) will face it nonetheless because this feudal system condemns the low and common-born to be sacrificial lambs as kings, queens and lords pursue power. "Perhaps all men are corrupt, and true honor is a mist that melts in the morning" is such a great line and it reflects the complexity of virtues such as "honour" or "justice" for characters whose hearts and moral compasses are pulled in different directions due to the thirst for power, the desire for love and validation or submission to political expectations and feudal obligations. Cole, character arc, perhaps more than most characters this season, expresses what guides GRRM's writing: the human heart in conflict with itself. And to say Alicent is averse to responsibility is WILD. Her entire life was ruined precisely because she was strongly committed to serving the crown and upholding her duties, even if it came at the cost of her youth, desires and personal happiness. More than most characters in this show Alicent understands that ruling is a burden and a responsibility - she lost her childhood friend, got martially raped for years and produced children she didn't want when she was a child herself ALL in the name of duty and sacrifice to the realm. Now for once Alicent chooses what she wants and is willing to sacrifice her own son to pursue peace (saving tens of thousands of lives potentially), but no, she's delusional and running away from responsibility sure.

She is still being extremely selfish in choosing to sacrifice her own children to gain freedom when it was her who forced them to go to war in the first place. Aegon never wanted to be King, and yet it was Alicent who forced him to take the throne from the beginning all because she thought Rhaenyra would kill him and his siblings once she comes into power. And now that she regrets starting this war, her son now has to die for something she forced him to do. And not only that, but Alicent must also realize that her other sons Aemond and Daeron will have to die too. And from what Gwayne said about him, Daeron is the only other nice child on team green alongside Helaena. And he was just living a peaceful life at Oldtown minding his own business until now. Not even Helaena or Jaehaera can leave because the former is still a figurehead for the greens as the Queen and Jaehaera is Aegon’s only surviving child. Alicent throwing her own children under the bus after she forced them to do all of this is just sickening.

@@garlantyrell6368 Yes! Alicent's choice is very selfish (and sacrificial) but to me that's in line with the character we've been seeing develop over the past 2 seasons. This story is a tragedy, characters will make or be compelled to make terrible decisions for a myriad of reasons .Also - why are the lives of Aegon, Aemond and Daeron worth more than the thousands or tens of thousands that will die in order for team green or team black to win? I think it's sad that Alicent is betraying her family BUT its for the sake of peace and it's a choice that will probably haunt her for the rest of her life. And the first choice she has made for herself and not in service of power structures that have done nothing but make her life miserable.
