I can’t thank you enough for showing me how to make a quilt. I made my mom a Mother’s Day quilt she has Alzheimer’s. I made it with all different color purples and in the middle I put a button she absolutely loved it. My husband was so impressed I told him I surprised myself. This was the first time I ever made a quilt now I’m hooked. I’m making a breast cancer quilt for my mom. She’s a cancer survivor I thank you once again❤.

I'm watching this with my 86 year-old mom who has been sewing for over 60 years. She has sewn many quilts over the years, they're all smaller pieces sewn together. She was amazed when she saw the final results of the first block, we both thought it was all pieces, not a small block sewn on top of a big block. This is so easy I might give it a try when I finally get around to trying my hand at sewing. I do want to do it some day, I just don't have the time for it. But a project like this might be what I need. This and other quick and easy projects I've seen on youtube.

I loved your idea/video. I wanted to make a signature quilt for a special wedding. The only thing different I did from yours was: Before sewing the last side of the original block, I inserted a 3 1/2" sq of a (light cardboard/ postcard/ cereal box ) into the center pocket before sewing the last strip side ( from the back) . Then I sewed it closed. I sewed all the blocks the same way.,and finished the quilt top like yours..... I brought the quilt top to the wedding and had the guest sign the center squares ( the cardboard made a solid surface to write on). I also made extra blocks, if more signatures were needed and for absent guests. After I got home, I cut a 1/4" slit with the rotory cutter on one side (the cardboard also helped) to remove the cardboard. I then cut the other 3 sides with scissors, to save the squares for trimming the border. A few of the extra blocks i used on the quilt back. Again THANK YOU for your beautiful block idea ❤❤❤

That was like one of the best tips ever about sewing the 1/4" seam like that. Brilliant! Do you lay out the squares to decide what looks good next to each other, or do you throw caution to the wind & pick them up randomly? To me, it looks like several reds are together & then several grays are together. It would take me 4 or 5 days or weeks just to lay them out in the right pattern. 😅
@sewcharmingquiltshop
5 ай бұрын
Sometimes I plan it and sometimes I don’t. This time I just made sure that each square was made up of different colors. There is no top or bottom to the rows so when I sewed them together, yes some reds and such ended up close. It doesn’t bother me though so since it was sewn together and i liked the look, I left it alone. 😁

Really slick method for quilting. I plan on using this technique when I sew my next quilt… I have a sewing project to complete first though. All I can say is thank you very much for sharing 😊♥️!

I have a lot of fabric left over from another project. I just can’t let it go, and I don’t like storing it, but I’m not feeling motivated to sew the same fabric again. I’ve been looking for “easy” and I’ve finally found it! This I can do and then move on to something new guilt free. Thanks so much for sharing this great idea.

Best and easiest way to make a quilt. I have been looking at many videos of quilt making and this was the best. I’ve never made one and wanted to try to make one. I think I can do it after seeing your video.

This video was awesome. I have never quilted. This would be my first attempt. I have fabric for 12 quilts for my family and myself. I cannot wait to get started. Thank you. Gale

I made close with big squares and lack tangles. I would love to make quilts with smaller squares but it just seemed like it would take forever to get one done. With this method, I am sure I can make this quilt. As it looks quicker and easier like the ones I usually make. Thank you so much.I'm glad I stumbled on your web page. I am so excited thank you.
