I am an avid fan of Overwatch Esports scene and I can say without a doubt that the French fan base is a force to be reckoned with. Especially now considering that the only one representing them is a singular t2 team, now that their t1 moved to Vegas, they show support like no other. The chat goes wild when their team enters a game and even in defeat they keep cheering, they really like their team.

Also worth noting that in Trackmania, the absolutely most hype competition must be the ZrT cup. A competition with intentionally bad maps and probably the best cast being the french streamer that created it. It is such a big thing there that people watch the tournament in french even if they don't speak it.

Another wild French esports story is BDS in r6. Years being top dogs in EU and a staple team in the entire world. In 2017, a one of France’s best players, Shaikko, was banned for 2 years by Pengu for accused cheating in a match and as soon as he came back, absolutely dominated his game and was picked up by BDS. It took them years to win any major event until finally they recently won the Jönköping major after making only one roster change in forever. Well deserved

Imagine what would have happenned if the OWL Paris Homestand of 2020 took place... Keep in mind that in the little scene of the OW World Cup qualifier in France, the croud was heard in other nearby building when the were kicking the ground and cheering despite this event happening in a room underground. Also, on the contrary to international but especially NA twitch and content creator, the "french Twitch" tend to regroup a lot for diverse event, being charitable or competitive, leading to community used to colaborate and making immense stats (Zevent, Zerator's Trackmania Cup, Zlan, latest Grand Prix Explorer (a litteraly race between twitch and youtube content creator driving real F4 cars with a production level equivalent to the one seen on TV. So the french community as a whole is ready for whatever is coming its way, and will make its cheer and passion heard from miles away, in real life event and online.

exactly, i'm still amazed by how my country can make such huge event, especially this year, with the pixel war, the Zevent, the GPExplorer, and finally the match between france VS spain, what a year for the french twitch game, and i'm sure i'm missing so much point like what the Kcorp did during the year and how the french players performed. It even seems strange that the spanish or the american community can't do event like these in other country (at the same size i mean)

Really great video ! If I have to add some of the noticeable french esport trivia: - Sport simulation esport was really huge in France, for example we have Spank (Bruce Grannec, retired since 2015) he's one of the most successful (if not the best) player on FIFA/PES winning multiple world cup (3 on FIFA, one in PES) he was part of the rise of French esport since he inspired a whole French generation in FIFA - Ceb is considered as the biggest champion in France since Dota is really really hard and pretty niche to our country - France have a lot of success in a large selection of esport: TFT, LoL, FIFA, Dota, R6, CSGO and probably Valorant/Rocket League now. I hope that Overwatch will follow this list very soon with the 2023 world cup !

And we won CSGO's last major at home. As you can see from the video, you can expect to see French teams competing at a very high level in many games in the future. Right now we've got the best team in the world on CSGO, we've got the best teams in the world on Rocket League, the best player in the world on R6, certainly the best player in the world on Trackmania, and we're determined to take over the League of legend scene. The community is 200% behind their teams, the structures are investing heavily, and the Karmine corp has even built a stadium! It's not an epiphenomenon, it's a real effervescence, a groundswell that's coming from the grassroots and pushing hard to the surface... So we're just going to enjoy the vibe.

Weird video. It misses all the important actors and only quotes minor organisations and players. Where is aAa, where are World of Warcraft and Millenium, where are SC2 and Zerator? The true story is that aAa was the early esports company. Then came WoW PvE guild Millenium with its GM Cedrix. And Cedrix then managed the impossible with WoW PvP arena esports. There was a mad corporate battle with aAa and Millenium crushed them. Millenium became a large profitable corporation. Then came Zerator. He started becoming big as a SC2 streamer. He then created a company to organise his own events. Cedrix and Zerator are the two big names who turned amateur esports into a profitable entertainment industry.

Koreans are bloody overrated. They are dominant in StarCraft, overwatch, Lol and what else? Warcraft 3 maybe? They get praise because of their infrastructure but aren't dominating every game so why do we keep propping them up like some eSports god? They aren't dominating Cs or dota and never have at any point. They never dominated arena shooters back in the 90s or 00s.
@johnnybaum7957

@@Edwardf4 That is because they don't play much of the other games. A country can't be good in every single esports game out there. (There are too many of them). If a game becomes popular in their PC bang cafe's they will dominate that game in the pro scene. That is why the most popular games out there are all Koreans.
