This video inspired me to get all achievements in the Dark Souls trilogy. I already had all of them in Bloodborne and Elden Ring, and this video made me go for it, and now I have them. Dark Souls 2 was definitely the smoothest of the trilogy -least amount of covenant farming, it felt like, since a number of spells can be bought from Wellager on NG++ thankfully enough. Dark Souls 3 and 1 felt equally painful for different reasons, in DS3 it was mostly covenant item farming, going for other stuff like rings was whatever. in Dark Souls 1 the various different types of titanite plus having to get a +10 weapon for every single boss soul item... it meant a lot of farming for titanite shards of various types, and I do not miss Demon's Souls or Dark Souls with their various different upgrade materials. That streamlining of upgrade materials that DS2, Bloodborne, DS3, and ER have is something we take for granted these days but MAN it's so much nicer.

When I was achievement grinding for dark souls 1 I thought it would be a great idea if I just got everything done in one play through considering you basically have to go into ng++ for all the boss soul weapons. Kinda sad Elden Ring doesn't has collect all weapon trophy again. I farmed and collected all of the weapons in Elden Ring, and some of them have lower drop rates than DS1 weapons. I'd guess another factor that makes Dark Souls 1 have the lowest achievement completion rate is just that it's the quintessential notoriously "hard" game that really pulled the series into the mainstream. Just recently i got all achievments on all Dark Souls plus Elden Ring and i gotta say i found the grind for Mound Makers covenant the one that sucked the most, to me it seemed like the drop rate for the vertebra shacles was lower than for proof of concord so much so that i actually relented and went on to spend an entire evening being summoned/invanding in the Mound Makers covenant even though i really dislike PvP. Elden Ring was certainly the easiest being able to get all the achievements but 2 endings in a normal fun playthrough, and i just didn't complete at first because i didn't think at the time about getting all achievements, and the fact that there is no online requirement was a blessing because my computer uses a 750 ti which is below the minimal requirements so i literally could not play online having had to mod the game to play it, hahaha. All in all it was very satisfying when i got the final achievement (i completed DS2:SoTF last) and in the process the souls games from FromSoftware have become my favorite games and most played ones, i especially enjoy doing coop on bosses so i'm very happy to have begun this challenge and a big thanks to Miyazaki and FromSoftware for these great games.

if i had to guess, i'd say another reason that Magic Weapon is so rare is that both Magic and Enchanted are only useful for Int builds, and Enchanted has better Int scaling at the cost of str/dex scaling. If you're playing a pure sorcerer and just want a backup weapon, Enchanted is better. Magic is more for spellsword builds with mixed Int and Str/Dex and in DS1 that playstyle isn't super heavily incentivized.

I'm curious, when doing the research for this, how did you come to the final numbers for the titles that were released on PlayStation and PC or have had a remaster, such as Demon and Dark Souls 1? For example, with Dark Souls 1, did you treat Prepare to Die and Remastered as separate lists or did you find a way to average out for shared rare achievements between released. How did the PS Trophies weigh in?

Have 100% on all the Soulsborne games and Sekiro (bar Demon Souls). The Silver Knight grind for 30 proofs was the one part of all of it that was honestly soul destroying

I wanted to do the ring achievement, but after seeing that I need to even get the stronger versions I thought: fuck that

Using the task manager to spam resets faster is by far the most ingenious way to optimize the fun out of a game

Thankfully I managed to get someone to drop me a channellers trident when I was going for that achievement, sekiro was my first completion, ds3 was probably the most frustrating though

I'm surprised you didn't mention Unveil when talking about farming the Mad Warrior

Going through ds3 all achievements in 2023/2024 is nuts. The farm for covenant miracles and rings is so much harder than knights honor (keep in mind i have all achievements in ds1, ER, and sekiro). Ds3 all achievements is a proper test currently, much harder than anything else in ds1

Proud to have earned the Dark Soul achievement in DS3... while the servers were down

two years ago on the wiki i wrote that getting 30 proofs of concord took me less than 3 hours and how i did it, and my comment was immediately disliked into oblivion xD My approach to 100% in ds3 and 1 was to write a huge note with everything i need, where to get it, and then write down the entire playthrough. in ds3 especially, every single npc interaction, location and pickup was already planned so everything went very smoothly.

Actually the singular biggest reason I can think of for magic weapon ds1 having the lowest achievement rate is that it is simply a redundant, inferior Enchanted. It trades lower scaling for higher base damage, with the idea being that you use one ascension for lower int builds and the other for high int But the catch is that you're only even interested in spending an entire blue slab if you're aiming for 50 int in the first place, so there is pretty much never a use case for magic +10. Compare to the other pairs: chaos has higher potential while fire does not require maintaining 10 soft humanity for maximum effect. Occult and holy hit two different elemental weak points. Those others have actual arguments for keeping both on hand. Magic +10 is just getting the exact same weapon as Enchanted but worse.

Really surprised at the 2.8% completion figure for DS1, I thought it would be much higher given the love for the game. I guess a lot comes down to how much time you're prepared to invest. DS1 hooked me in big time so I was happy to slog it out, same with the remaster all those years later. Definitely one of my desert island games (assuming they have servers for a spot of jolly co-op) 👍👍.

I gathered all achievements in all three DS, back to back. Took me 6 months and about 500 hours. It was a great journey and a RL improvement of focus, patience and dedication. Along the road I've seen some trully extreme self imposed achievements by other players that I wouldn't dare compare. Thus, it was also a humbling experience. Ye all, praise the sun and git gud.
