While i think the video explains these items very well, i disagree with your hypothetical calculations of the lightning aspect. While yes, it is true that the Capacator does way more damage, you do have to mind that it has a cooldown. This means that you will do less damage if you do not have a Gesture, some Fuel Cells and perhaps a Soulbound Catalyst, in both the early and mid game. In addition, Capacator is a single instance of damage, while the aspect allows every single ability/attack to proc its effect. This means that items like Will o Wisp and Atg's (as you mentioned) also proc thr explosions, which would deal more total damage. Still Ice aspect is S-tier with Dio's mister streamer
@monsoon1174

Yeah, Woolie seems to really favor high damage, instant hits for some reason. The lightning aspect is very close to a bazooka, which means its very close to an S-tier red. I've used it before and it feels really, really good, and the AOE is bigger than a single bazooka for sure.
@angelgutierrez9581

I mean you're probably not going to get any of the aspects early/mid game because of its drop chance so by the time you do get it you could easily have gestures and fuel cells to make royal capacitor pretty much proc on every enemy, I think that's why he's comparing them.

I am quite fascinated with these Elite aspects and how lame most of them feel. I've never gotten one myself, but after this video I decided to do some math regarding the lightning aspect. Keep in mind that this math is calculated in a vacuum scenario. No other items. Royal Capacitor vs Silence Between Two Strikes on Commando. The assumption is that for any given enemy we are constantly using our M1 attack only and using the Royal Capacitor off cooldown every time. According to the wiki, Commando's M1 deals 2x90% damage and can be fired every 0.4s. This works out to 450% damage per second. The capacitor does 3000% damage every 20s. This works out to 150% damage per second. The total damage including M1 spam would be 600% per second. The lightning aspect is dependent on attack damage, so for the purposes of this example it does 450/2 = 225% damage per second. The total damage here would be 675% per second. Increasing the lightning aspect DPS is as simple as stacking attack speed (cause it's essentially a flat 50% damage increase vs single targets, but having a small AoE it also hits some additional targets), whereas one would need to stack Fuel Cells and/or Gestures instead to improve Capacitor dps. Now of course there are other caveats like procs and proc chaining which I'm not well versed in. The wiki says the lightning balls have a proc coefficient of 0 vs the Royal Capacitor's 1. I want to take the lowest friction approach here and only assume exactly one additional ATG on top of both the above scenarios. The missiles have a 10% chance to proc a 300% damage attack, which I'll be interpreting as 3x damage dealt by the attack that proc'd it. In the case of a simple M1 auto attack, over the course of 20s, it should fire off on average 0.5 missiles per second. Each missile deals 3x more damage than the M1 attack, so in this case it's 90 * 3 = 270% damage. This results in an additional 135% dps when simply using M1 and the ATG. This doesn't take into account that missiles potentially could chain into other missiles, but that's only a 1% chance (if it's possible) so I'll skip that math for now. Missiles can proc the lightning aspect orbs, so the missile damage is essentially increased by 1.5x. The total damage here, including M1 would be 675% + 135*1.5 = 877,5% damage per second. The Royal Capacitor will proc the missiles approximately once every 10 uses for 9000% damage each time (which is 3x Capacitor damage). This results in about 9000% damage every 200s or 45% dps. The total here would be 600% + 45% = 645% damage per second. This math does not take into account other items, other characters or other attacks a character can use. It also assumes a best-case scenario where one is constantly using these items. Perhaps there's some synergy to be had with the Capacitor that I may be overlooking, or maybe my math is plain wrong, but right now it's looking like the Capacitor is not as good as the lightning aspect on the damage front. I would appreciate if someone could give this math a second opinion and find some flaws with it. Thanks for reading!

my first thought that came to my mind about the lightning aspect and his example was him not taking the cooldown of active items like capacitor into consideration. while the capactior does a higher amount of damage in a short period, the overloading orbs do consistently damage leading to higher DPS - thanks for your calculations showing it :D

Got my first ever aspect (fire) yesterday. Thought it was really cool but then I started to struggle and picked up a Royal Capacitor. They should make the aspects (well for one, actually drop) gain levels as you level up yourself, so it gets stronger as you go on. Also making them give you immunity to whatever that aspect is would be perfect. That way that actually have use besides slightly higher damage. We really need to buff Chronobauble, or the slowing ability in general.
@Drekromancer
4 жыл бұрын
Definitely. I can imagine stacks of Chronobauble actually being good, if they slowed down enemy attack animations and shot speeds. You could even build around it, and call it the "Matrix Meta." You can't get hurt if you can't get hit.
@Drekromancer
4 жыл бұрын
Also, I want to balance all of the Aspect's to be viable. If we make the slow work like I described earlier, then the only problem is the death explosion. Ice Aspect's retaliatory explosion should occur at a health threshold, instead of on death. Like Genesis Loop. Maybe 20% health or something. They'd either have to buff the cryo explosion's damage and range, make the explosion slow/freeze enemies for a LONG time, or make the cooldown laughably short to boost uptime. Then it could be fun!

although they definitely need a HUGE buff the amount of procs a second on the lightning aspect means it should probably have been tested by how many times you can proc it within a 20 second burst of damage although the royal capicitor is completly cooldown based and yes it can reach a low cooldown with items, so can a lightning aspect with attack speed or damage for that matter making the lightning aspect easier to raise the damage on.

You never mentioned in your capacitor vs aspect that it's a constant, consistent source of damage. It's not fair to compare the Royal Capacitor's single-target damage vs Silence Between Two Strikes in one 'damage instance.' Obviously, something that's made to do lots of damage in a short amount of time (Capacitor) is going to do more damage if you don't consider the 20-second cooldown between uses.

@@Rucka_Inc. this is simply not the case. again, it was a hypothetical example so the numbers are NOT able to defined as the "prime example" of what's going on. assuming an auto-attack, in that scenario, even comes close to a capacitor shot is unrealistic - the damage discrepancy would be absolutely massive. I plan on making a separate video on proc-chaining and what deals the most damage in a given run.

@@Woolie What is simply not the case? The overall DPS of lightning or the burst damage of capacitor? Which is overall more beneficial for damage? I do not understand your point or example. Maybe I'm a brainlet but I don't get your comment. Yes, the burst damage of the capacitor is much higher than anything an autoattack will ever do. I agree. That said, you need to factor in the context. 20+ seconds of autoattack will almost always do much more damage than a single burst from the capacitor. Especially with the given scenario you presented. Context matters. Now, that context is different if you stack fuel cells and whatnot but I still don't understand the comparison.
@Woolie
4 жыл бұрын
@@Rucka_Inc. my point was that ~20 seconds of auto-attacking will not do more dmg than a capacitor's burst, given the context of such a scenario. if you're at the point where straight auto-attacking is granting considerable damage, you must have multiple stacks of on-hits, attack speed items & some crit, too. it's safe to say, then, that at that point you'd also have fuel cells, too - let alone a soulbound or gesture - therefore the "20-second" window you're referencing would instead be much lower and, ultimately, to compare the best-case of AAs to the worst-case for capacitors is not taking the full context into account. I don't say all this to argue and prove my point, rather to say this is why hypotheticals get out-of-hand quickly if pure data is not there to back them up. this is why I plan on making a detailed video (prob next video at this point lol) on proc damage and proc chains & their relation to overall DPS.

@@co5micwaffle742 You can actually get stacks of Elite effects on Engi turrets though, oddly enough. I've seen Engi turrets with Vulture belt turn into Blazing Overloading Turrets, for instance. While I've never seen it with the player getting multiple elite statuses (Perhaps Aspect+Vulture would trigger a multi-elite state, but without mods that isn't exactly easy to test)

I actually practically started off a run with Silence Between Two Strikes as Loader once, and I have to say, it basically carried me the whole time, especially since I don't use Equipments too often, the extra 50% damage to all of my attacks was pretty nice, and I noticed I started to do considerably less killing of enemies than I did when I switched off to the Disposable Rocket Launcher for some reason

Lightning might, might be useful on Acrid with enough uke's, on enemies close enough together. My perception of how close enemies get together, as I have only played modded for about a month, where lightning would be a saving grace any time in the game, as they are all clustered together

I think it would be really cool if in the future, aspects were much easier to come by for the “wizard” character (I forget the name) that could upgrade his different attacks, like the ice wall or the fire attack(and he would need to carry multiple)

I think the aspects wouldn’t be so lackluster if they had a form of activation. Fire sending out fireball when activated, the ice doing the death burst without dying, Celestine boosting your health or making you invisible, Lightning/Overloading sending down a lightning strike aoe around you like the overloading worm and the malachite giving you some sort of huge boost in hp regeneration for a few seconds or giving a poison or bleed effect in an area around you. It would just make them so much better but not absolutely broken.

Royal Capacitor deals 3000% damage, with a 20s cooldown. Commando's base attack fires twice in 0.4 seconds, so 5 shots at 90% damage per second. So, ignoring all other items except the Royal Capacitor and the Silence Between Two Strikes: At base, the Royal Capacitor will deal 360 damage. In the 20 second time frame, if every single Commando shot lands at full damage, the damage from Commando's Double Tap is 1080. Silence Between Two Strikes deals 50% of that damage, meaning that, at base, Silence Between Two Strikes is doing 540 damage, which is 180 more damage than Royal Capacitor. When it comes to Critical Strikes, before you have a 100% crit chance the Crits will benefit Silence more, since more attacks means more crits. Of course, this is based on base level damage, and ignores things like items and area damage. In terms of item synergies, while Silence gets a better bonus from crit chance if it's not high or 100%, once crits are certain or almost certain, they'll both be getting a good bonus from crits. And, of course, the Capacitor gains better bonuses from Crowbars, Gestures of the Drowned, and Fuel Cells. With one Crowbar, Capacitor's damage is 540, equal to Silence's damage in 20 seconds normally, although Silence will still be outperforming due to it also getting a damage bonus, albeit not as great overall. However, with literally just one Gestures or Fuel Cell, the Capacitor's damage in 20 seconds is upped to 720 and 1440 (although, I don't actually know how charges work, so it might be 1080) respectively, while Silence will remain the same. So, yeah. Silence does better in the early game, but get one Fuel Cell or Gestures and Royal Capacitor outperforms. And that's to say nothing about Spinel with a bunch of Gestures and Fuel Cells. Just, this is with actual numbers that fit in the game, albeit based solely on Commando's Double Tap attack. And of course this is if literally every attack from Commando hit a target, which is unlikely.

I got the Shared Design (the Perfected Aspect) during a huntress dissonance run today. I had no clovers, so I was pleasantly surprised, since when I saw a perfected chimera on dissonance for the first time I said that if I got it I would drop my full uptime milky chrysalis for it. And in the same run, 3 stages later, His Reassurance (the Mending Aspect) dropped, so I gave it to an Equipment drone, which promptly died to a Void Reaver Implosion. Still had no clovers.

I found a good use for the lightning aspect yesterday. If you use Mul-t and have the lightning aspect, you can switch it on and off whenever you want. This means you can gain sheilds and the switch back to health. If your on 1 health and then you switch to your lightning aspect it brings your sheilds to max. If you then switch back you get full health. Pretty much a free max heal every time you switch weapons.

In regard to aspects, I think I have a cool idea, as to how to buff them, without making elite enemies a nightmare. Not only do I think that, you should gain immunity to your respective elite aspect, I also think that, since it is equipment, the player should be able to "use" the aspect and sort of Ubercharge it when activated. All in all lightning aspect isn't bad, it's just severely outclassed, but imagine if you had the aspect passively and then when activated, your attacks would now leave bigger bombs/more of them as well as making all of your health shields but increasing your total by a large amount throughout its duration. The ice aspect could give an armor boost, a boost to it's slow (either through sheer numbers or through affecting animation speeds) and proc those large ice explosions around you every so often (or constanly even, depending on duration and desired strength). The fire aspect should obviously choose its larger damage value for players (with its own unique debuff as to not affect gasoline) and have the large damage boosted even further, and the trail of fire could even be a larger AOE circle around the player to increase its useability. The celestine would then definitely slow down animation speeds slightly as well as stealthing the player also. The malachite aspect I havent thought much of. Perhaps you would gain three of those urchin around you at all times, except spinning and indestructable or something? Some of these might be broken, but honestly I think they should be even more broken. They are the rarest items after all, and they have no real effect so far. Because of that I think that they all should just outright be some of the best equipment. We all know how strong Royal Capacitor is and I think aspect should be a step above the capacitor.

Okay so I have been on a relentless quest to obtain every aspect and oh boy, it has been such a massive grind. I got Celestine so many times it's driving me crazy. That stupid mending aspect I literally got twice in the same game, once on round 3 in a multiplayer game, and once on ROUND 1 not even five minutes after starting the game. I've found shared designs, her biting embrace, and even silence between two strikes, but the ones I had yet to get were Ifrit's Distinction and the N'kuhana's Retort, BUT, I was playing with a friend the other day, and IT DROPPED. I was so happy that despite having 7 fusion cells and a rocket pod, I picked it up anyway. Now all I need is Ifrit's, and I'll have found every elite equipment. Shame there are no logs for them. I had to keep a notepad file of all the ones I'd found just to keep track else I'd forget, since they are so rare.

I think all the aspects except for Overloading have the adventage of adding a free debuff each hit, which can be absolutely busted for death mark if your survivor does not have a starting debuff. So you could get (Elite debuff), chrono bubble, Shattering justice and bleeds for example. Celestine and Malachite are the best in this example because is a unique debuff. Freeze slowness is also aplied by the Bands and the frost relic and Fire can be aplied by fire drones, artificer and gasoline.

I would say that while I agree with basically everything listed, the lightning aspect does have one thing going for it in terms of using up the equipment slot. Using the example of a capacitor, you have a cooldown period of 20 seconds to worry about between shots, and even then, you aren't guaranteed to proc your ATGs with that big ol' boom. By virtue of being purely passive, the aspect both removes the need for cooldown reduction on equipments (which is a huge help on MAO runs) and still provides a fairly chunky damage bonus from an external source. If you've got a huge proc chain lined up, then I can definitely see the benefits of having a heavy-hitting starter for it, but having to wait that extra time in a game that moves at this pace seems...risky.

lightning aspect is actually goated on mul-t, not because of the dps increase but because of his special. since you can hold 2 different active items if you swap back and forth between your 2 abilities you end up having a permanent instant heal to full hp whenever you want which is insane for late game and against malachites
@sirprotagonist1320
3 жыл бұрын
Feels like I'm late to the conversation, but the Maths you did towards the end ignores the fact that the aspect is a passive where the Capacitor is an active with a 20s cooldown. Not that I think it's better but you have a much higher damage potential with the lightning aspect over the time that the capacitor would be on cooldown, without other items to reduce that CD of course. And that's besides the fact that shields can affect your one shot protection. Just wanted to bring that up
