Without the benefit of knowing how things turned out, I thought Ben McLemore and Bradley Beal were similar players coming out of college. Both 6'3"/6'4". Both were off the ball guards known for their shooting. The irony is both are from St Louis. Both are the same age. But Ben had to sit out a year because of his high school transcript so Bradley got drafted out of college a year before Ben. Bradley got drafted to a team where he could develop and have the green light(Washington). Ben going to the Kings over the course of the years he was there didn't have such freedom. What a difference a year can make on the landscape of the league and who a player gets drafted to. Great video @stuntedgrowth !

Do Kevin Martin as a Growth Spurt !!((Sacramento Kings)) next !!
@royalace2271
6 ай бұрын
Kevin Martin didn't have a growth stunt. Drafted in the late 1st round, he really overachieved his draft slot. His skinny frame made it difficult for him on the defensive end and his court vision and passing skills were sub par. But he was a gifted scorer who was extremely efficient from inside and beyond the arc. Along with his ability to draw fouls and shooting nearly 90% at the stripe, he was a borderline all star player during his prime. Unfortunately his skinny frame couldn't withstand the grind and bumps of the NBA, which is why he was injury prone

Ngl, Bill Self can get guys to the league(Embiid, Wiggins) but some of those guys at KU unfortunately didn’t succeed due to their own faults, injuries or development by teams not having guys understand that every play won’t be a home run. The Kings during the late 2000s-early 2020s(pre-2022/23) were some dogshit teams. Management fucked some of those guys over

One-and-done stories like Ben's are why I always wonder if some guys should stay longer at school. Situation matters, and maybe he could have been a bit better had he stayed longer at Kansas and taken a bit more time to develop.
