I bought an old property that had a 56ft mobile home on it. I am rebuilding the mobile home now. Replacing the particle board floors. All the wall boards. 1.5" insulation throughout. Ceilings. Removed the tub and building a large, walk in curbless shower. Gutted the kitchen. Replacing all the windows. Replacing the sliding glass door with French doors. Replaced the underlayment. And extended the 2 bedrooms and bathroom out about 3.5ft. I will move in it and finish it up when I make a bedroom liveable. Lol

This was quite informative. I live in a mobile home and it needs repairs so now I have a better idea of the cost involved. You did an awesome job! And you're right, not everybody is in the financial position to put that kind of money down, and then have a pretty big monthly payment to boot. I would also think that the park has some spots that are pretty much fixed in size, so it's not like you'll just pull that one out and put in something new. That was pretty small and looked to be backed up to a property line. Good job and good for you for taking it on and providing someone with a new home. No matter the size.

The number one thing is Finding the Right ones. Labor can be reduced if you know how to do the work (as I do) hire helpers and maybe one Experienced worker. Lowes also installs some things which could save you time while they are taking care of that you can be doing other things. Plus Take some courses to also save on plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, vinyl siding, tile. And of course the internet

Kitchens and bathrooms are the most expensive. But you can resell without Appliances. Electrical can be just retracing the wiring and do it yourself. Plumbing can be done the same way. Research the cost of materials (remember your selling this it isn't gonna be yours) There are nice stuff that's cheaper than other products not only cost wise but Laber wise. I know how you feel I used to Flip House's that first one you always overspend. Also if you plan on doing this for awhile you might consider finding you an old truck to save or make money in set-up and moving expenses. That can go in your pocket or someone else's

Well oho! Y'all don't live in the South! A mobile home in the South fetches a good $50,000 up to $70,000 even for a single wide. As long as it's 100% renovated with all new appliances and remodeled bathrooms and kitchens. New roof. New air conditioner. New siding. All new. It can be 💯% remodeled for around $20,000. Mobile home that I own was $25,000 cash when bought. When it's all done said and done I'll have put another $20,000 into it. I plan to sell it for $70,000. Which is only $10,000 less than a brand new home. Because it has everything a brand new home has. What you mentioned with the appliances is super smart. I just picked up a fridge for it for only $100 and it's a double door brand new fridge!

If you sell your huge stick built home waaay out in the suburbs when you are over 60 and the kids all moved out of state, it's nice to live in a small community near big city stores & restaurants, with a social room for meeting friends, arts & crafts, sing a longs, and senior meals. I've been given a mobile home and don't know if it's worth it because it's old. But I will be moving to Eastern Kentucky and I do qualify for a $20,000 loan. It is 660 ft. Two bedroom one bath single wide. People just moved out of it so it is livable but not up to my standards. I just wonder if it can be completely done for that I don't even care if I don't have a actual floor and I just have to walk around on the subfloor for a little bit and put a stain on it cuz apparently that's what people around there do I just need to know that the bones and the meat are good. Cosmetic s*** can come later. Labor will be done by us and family members. My in-laws are into construction they know how to do plumbing floors framing etc. I may actually have to get an electrician which I'm sure through family we can find one that would be decent priced. But this is daunting because I don't know what to do. I don't want to move into a money pit that I already sank 20 grand into and then the damn thing falls apart. But I kind of look at it like buying an old car and rebuilding it. Take something that's worthless or worth $1,000 and you can make it worth $50,000 I'm not looking to resell though. I just want a place that I can call home. Appliances are already provided by my sister-in-law I got a new stove a new fridge because hers are only a couple years old and she's getting new and washer and dryer also provided. I would prefer to live in a tiny home that's what I've wanted for the last few years.

If, your all the way to the studs, have you ever thought about the type of insulation where it's foil on both sides? That way, the sun can't heat up the tin can, and it also keeps the cool or warm air in, at in what season it's outside. My home has two roofs, and insulated between. Have a lot of ideas, but not enough people to do the labor, since I can't do it. Good video, though. TT04, 2/26/2021

I have a 14 X 70 with bad floors in a coop park. I only recently put on a metal roof, and now I'm thinking of replacement with a brand new. A couple problems I think I will have is they seem to be all electric in the reviews I'm watching. Thats OK if it has a solar roof, but I have been told there is a problem with mobile homes and solar panels. Is it still a problem if it is planned before construction? Right now I have oil heat and a propane stove and water heater. I would also like to look into an ON DEMAND water heater. I have watched a bunch of reviews here today and see some nice showers. Low step in with a seat that I like. I haven't seen one walk in tub? I'm a little surprised, but not completely. I think they should be prepared for in construction too. They drain fast, but they fill slow. I'm single and getting older, not retired yet but want a place I can live in for the rest of my life. My home now is paid for, but I'm getting sick of standing on the floor joists in spots. A new home would also get me new windows, not sliders and crank outs.

I retired early (age 48) and my GF and I bought a piece of property in New Mexico and then found a "Junk" 16x80 mobile home for $500 and cut it in half and making 2 tiny houses out of them. One half is going to be our house and the other half will be a place for our kids when they come visit. Were using all recycled materials. We bought a full set of cabinets, an 8' lower and a 4 double uppers at a garage for $25, after another $10 for kitchen/bathroom paint and noone will ever know they aren't new and we have $35 in them. Our bathtub, sinks (Kitchen and Bathroom) and toilet we bought at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and once again.... after a couple coats of new porcelain paint they will be like new and noone will know. Our Refrigerator was also used, I paid $15 for a 1950's fridge on Facebook marketplace and put a new compressor in it, cost me $82 for the compressor, and another $10 for 2 cans of Rustoleum epoxy paint from Wal-Mart. Both countertops are going to be homemade butcher block we saved over from when we gutted the mobile home so it didn't cost us anything but the time it took to gut and cut up the wood and wood glue putting it together. Were going to do the same thing for the guest house also. Were doing everything ourselves also and were using spray foam insulation which is the same price as roll insulation if you do it yourself. We have 10K budgeted for both of them, 20k combined, we don't have to worry about dumpster fees because we just threw all of what we weren;t keeping that came out of the house and burned it.

Hello, I have been watching your new mobiles tour for ideas. Today I saw this one. I own a 1983 REX by Bendex Redman homes. I own the land. The layout is fine. But, when it was set up (used) it was not done right, was not correctly supported by the cinder blocks. I jave been told it has no support 4 ft of each end is sitting on the frame. Power CO provided belly blow insulation as I am extremely low income, 70 yrs old & have had cancer 4 times. So..how can anyone see the frame to look for bends, breaks? It will need new framing in places on exterior and interior walls. Floors do have some soft spots. And I would like a roof over. I do not need sinks, tubs, or cabinets, just new doors on them. BUT, where oh where do I begin? Removing the belly blow to examine the frame, but how does one do that? I need to fix it before it breaks yet know I can't trust just anyone. Any advice would be so appreciated, I feel like I know you & Jenn. I would trust what you say. Thank you for reading this.

and you wouldn't believe what fresh coat of epoxy paint will do for used appliances. I bought a 1950's refriderator and put a new compressor in it, cost me $82 for the compressor, and then spent $10 on a couple cans of black epoxy paint and sandblasted and painted the handle with some VHT Burnt Copper Auto Engine paint and it looks brand new. The reason I used engine paint is because it's oil, rust resistant don't have to worry about the oils in foods and grease breaking down the paint.

Interested in the Mr. Clean mini split heat pump for small cabin. Another issue with 2"x2" framing (boards "crisscrossed" rather than usual framing) is there is room for critters to roam freely through the walls once they get in. Good you replaced that framing. Have been looking at RV living vids and rebuilds. If you redo those, please post vids on those, too. Do you shop Habitat for Humanity or donate removed items to them? Did you save that funky pressed metal "sun" sculpture from one of those earlier vids -- the one with two sets of steps on one side?

Is it possible to remodel a single wide on a rented lot and actually make money off of it? The landlord of the land... well lets just say not the nicest people. How can I sell a place knowing that the landlord will give the buyers a hard time. They have done everything they can to force my husband to just turn over the keys or sell for 2k. It would be hard for us to let it go because we know what mobile homes are worth in this area with a 1% vacancy rate.
