Just because I'm in Plaid mode, doesn't nean i drive like Jesse implied, as in I don’t jack rabbit from a stand still, and i don't slam on the breaks. I drive mostly normal, (but I do go faster from a traffic light, if I'm in front, than the others, just because it is so effortless 😊 ). Range for the CT is not a major issue unless you tow weekly for long distances. Most people tow a couple times a year, if at all. Road trips are also usually only a couple times a year, so longer range would save most people a few hours a year. Not really a big deal. Tesla knows exactly how people actually drive and caters to real world driving, not hypothetical scenarios people make up to saycthe CT isn't good enough.

That KZitem Out of Spec Review range test result for the AWD Cybertruck FS needs some context. Kyle drove the vehicle at night in temperatures averaging less than 45 deg F. He drove at 70 mph from 100% SOC to dead and traveled 253.7 miles. Any EV will lose range at lower outside air temperatures. My understanding is that the 4680 battery pack in the Model Y will lose 20% of its capacity at 45 deg F. So, if the temperature was in the 70s, Kyle would likely have driven 304+ miles vs the EPA's 318 miles. The EPA range ratings are for comparison purposes. No matter what conditions they specify for the testing the results will be misleading.
@jumpyjeffrey

Wind resistance is also a big factor. EPA ratings are not done at a constant high speed. Which is unrealistic unless you’re doing a road trip through unpopulated areas. This result would probably be the same if done with any other vehicle as well.

Kyle said Rivian is more efficient than the CT at first glance. With a bigger battery, it probably beats the CT. It's worth noting that in Kyle's Out Of Spec 70 mph tests, Tesla vehicles often fall short of their EPA ratings, while some others can actually match or even beat them.

The range ~70 miles less of stated range most likely is due to driving 70mph with little to no regen. On my 27 mile commute in my Model Y I generally see 1-2% difference in consumption based upon the amount of traffic. The more traffic slower the speeds, more regen, and less consumption. Less traffic, higher speeds, more consumption.

I thought the range test bit left MUCH room for analysis. The truck range as tested was not 340. Not with those offroad tires. As I recall it's under 320. Any EV tested at 70mph will lose around 15% of range. The EPA test is a mix of highway & city (60/40, as I recall). The 30 degree F colder than standard temps accounts for the rest of the drop. There's nothing "eyebrow raising" here, as the guys intimated. Still, I LOVE the argument that the Monroni sticker should show more, useful data!

I’m just really pissed that I have to give up a decent bed to get halfway decent range. I was notified that I could configure a cybertruck now but I just can’t get over this problem. It just really pisses me off. I use my trucks for both towing and I use the bed.

@@gdo3510 I don't see why not.. 350charging, 175kwh pack, plenty of room for suitcases still in the trunk. plus FSD to take the brunt of the drive for me. like my current model y performance but better in every way

26:36 what you failed to mention is that the optimal speed for efficiency 50-55mph. You literally stated just before this that the test was performed at 70mph. Just a thought

Despite all the Cybertruck hype, and the prophesy of a Model 2, what are the Tesla evaluation and plans relative the competition of BYD?

I think the less than 40 seconds per car in Giga Shanghai is just for the Model Y production line. Add the Model 3 production line and you'll get around 1 million total cars per year.

The best value-play for a Cybertruck is anyone who needs or wants something bulletproof/bulletproofish. It's SUPER expensive to beef up vehicles aftermarket to be bulletproof. With the CT, all you'd need to worry about is swapping out the glass... the giant, massive paines of glass. Haha!

I was born in 45 in Saskatchewan and was raised to adulthood there before I began living in other countries. I was an illegal alien in California for eight years in the 80's with a son who was born in Spain, a wife who was born in France and my new daughter who was the only one that was legal. I couldn't wait to get away from there because it was just getting too crazy but we led a pretty good life and did anything a legal resident could do.

That doesn’t mean, a car completes the process from parts to being fully assembled in less than a minute. Can you tell us how long it take through the factory too?

I heard the cybertruck stock tires suck in the snow. Are you guys getting snow tires for it?
@jemezname2259

I live in the mountains of northern new mexico. I drive on and off road and I drive a lot. Only snow tires work well on ice. Those Tesla tires aren't optimized for anything. Big knobby off road tires work well in deep snow but not on ice. Studs help but are not legal in most states. Tires matter more than anything else. I always put snow tires on my vehicles.

Can’t buy tickets where I live. By purchasing a ticket I certify that I am not making this purchase in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, or Utah, where online raffles are not permitted. Bummer.
