Here I bring you one of the most requested recipes. This recipe is very versatile but at the same time very traditional. We can find this food literally in everywhere in the country. For me, it was very important to learn to cook this because I really missed the taste of my country, and this literally represents the streets of the Dominican Republic.
The recipe carries the following ingredients.
To season the meat:
2 to 3 pounds of ground beef.
** Important: I am using 90/10 (90% meat and 10% fat)
I recommend 80/20 (80% meat and 20% fat because it gives more flavor and the meat stays more juicy.
2 tablespoons sofrito
1 tablespoon of garlic
1 Tablespoon of All purpose Seasoning with Achiote - Tones
Substitution: 1 Tablespoon of Adobo and 1 envelope of Sazon Goya
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 Tablespoon Beef Flavor Bouillion.
** 6 to 8 Bolillo Breads or Water Loaf
For Chimi Sauce:
1/2 Cup of Mayonnaise
3/4 Cup of Ketchup
2 to 3 Tablespoons Orange Juice or Juice of Half Orange
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Optional: 1 teaspoon of Yellow Mustard
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon of Liquid Flavored Flavor.
Additional ingredients for Chimi:
1 Bag of Coleslaw or 1/2 cabbage, finely chopped
Enough water to cover the cabbage
1 tablespoon of salt
1 Red onion chopped into thin strips
1/2 White Onion Chopped into thin strips
Vinegar to cover the chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 to 2 tomatoes cut into slices
Optional: Lettuce Leaves
Optional: Avocado
