How could you possibly.. EVER.. in a MILLION YEARS, after READING HIS BOOK AND THE SCRIPT FOR THE FILM… that this man could EVER, EEEEEVER be honest???? LONG COMMENT AHEAD, read at your own time expense: People can better themselves. But I mean right here in this interview they say that he said while he just didn’t really think about the people he was hurting (which I don’t believe for a second,) he throws his supposed best friend under the bus by saying that HE basically got off on hurting people. Let’s not forget that he ended up suing the film, because some of the lead financiers that bankrolled the movie were crooks who were involved in racketeering and other criminal acts involving some Malaysian state fund. He’s suing them for $300 mil. Good way to make him look like he is truly the straight arrow he says he is. And also a great way to get $300 million. Kill two birds with one expensive ass lawyer. The last thing I will say is that while I love the movie, I have a couple major problems with it. just like Scorsese’s other films, (i.e. Goodfellas, Casino, and now Wolf) they ride the line narrowly of sympathizing, or rather even glorifying the terrible people who serve as the main characters, or “protagonists.” If you pay attention, they clearly are cautionary tales of what a life of glamour can lead to if achieved by nefarious means. But Scorsese usually doesn’t focus on the victims of these people, but rather he portrays their downfall by showing them eventually getting caught or killed. Personally I think it’s clever. Like if when we are watching the Irishman, we get a scene where we focus on the grieving widow of the man DeNiros character whacks at the restaurant, like a scene where she mourns at a funeral and someone mentions how the kids have no father now or whatever, and maybe for some reason DeNiro’s character is there and overhears this and has a moment where he looks regretful… that scene just wouldn’t belong in a Scorsese film of that nature. It’s too ham fisted, too obvious that they’re telling the audience that killing is bad! Defrauding is bad, people! Crushing peoples heads with vices is BAD! No. He trusts his audiences to get the message. This is a long preface to get to my problem with tWoWS. And it is the inclusion of the real Jordan Belford in a cameo af the end, even introducing himself as this total legend. I really feel weird when I enjoy the entire movie then get to that final scene and see him. It is the only scene I can think of in any of the mentioned movies where Scorsese rides off that fine line, into the territory of glorification. Who knows, maybe JB wouldn’t allow them to use the rights to his life story if they didn’t afford him that cameo or something, but it just never sat right with me. Anyways, if you read all the way to the end, congratulations. If you call this number 1800-696-9696 I can tell you ALL about the best, top of the line stock options for only--

I wonder if the guy (who I presume was real) that Jonah Hill played really did like that his actions hurt people or if this was a way for Jordon to paint a narrative that he himself wasn’t THAT bad. Jordan Belfort is incredibly charismatic and manipulative, it’s how he earned his millions, do they really think he didn’t have an ulterior motive to going out for dinner with them every night? He got a consultant job on a film about his life where he is the villain for fuck sake.

Does anyone else find it peculiar, if not a little vulgar, that they’re somewhat honoring this guy with a movie about him?
