I'll be honest... as a Frenchman i have to admit, we're so lucky we had Napoleon. Unironically widely considered to be THE best military leader of all times, better than Alexander the Great, Khalid Ibn Al Walid, and the great Julius Caesar himself. What a man. Edit: Right, i should've guessed there would be people arguing about it so i have to clarify something. I never said he WAS the best but i said he is WIDELY CONSIDERED to be.

@BritishFrenchman

@@CrazyHermitVizard Indeed yeah, i respect Napoleon more than any human that lived on this planet, literally an unstoppable guy, but i don't think he fought for the right cause. He destroyed Europe in some ways. If he hadn't existed, Europe would have probably still been the ultimate pillar of the world. But the fucking shitty French Révolution and the anti-monarch bullshit put us to our knees, and he desguised it as a victory over the oppressive kings, but we all know, deep down, that he just wanted glory, not to change the world. He wanted to make history, not to make the world a better place. So yeah, i agree with you.

It's a bit like comparing apples to oranges, The British had the best Navy on earth, Napoleon truly undervalued the Navy and as a consequence he didn't really take care of them the way he should have. So the fleet suffered for that and the Spanish fleet was that of a dying empire... It doesn't take away from the tactical stroke of genius employed at Trafalgar and the Battle of the Nile but those are the only two battles that I know of where Nelson just stood head and shoulders above his peers, whereas Napoleon I can name several
