After 30 years in software engineering, having gone through numerous technologies, companies, startups and completed projects, my only fear presently is that I will never be able to escape this industry. You make a lot of very valid, pragmatic points but I disagree on one thing. Motivation is absolutely paramount. Discipline prevails early on when you need to grow and establish yourself. However, in the long term you absolutely rely on motivation. Because in the far tail end, and after a certain age, no amount of discipline can overcome built up fatigue and disillusionment.

I think another thing is reflecting on the journey and trying to enjoy the challenge. When you know that you put so much effort learning a new skill, looking back from learning all of the new stuff that you had no idea about before and that you thought was too complicated, is a such a confidence booster.

Something I like about programming is that it's not so much about memory but thinking, I pity medics and lawyers because of this, they have to memorize A LOT OF STUFF.

Dope video. So powerful to simplify coding is for anyone who wants to put that work in.. FACTS! I knew that but needed to hear that. Restarting my journey! Keep up the great content. How about your life in day..husband, career, health, balance. Coding takes a lot of commitment & a lot of patience from loved ones.

I've enjoyed all of your videos so far, but this one has truly resonated with me. I'm also trying to make this career change into tech so I can provide for my family-to-be. Moreover, it's the fear of letting myself and my other half down that keeps me disciplined. I kinda wish I had learned Python first too, but the program I'm on has thrown me in at the deep end with Javascript. It's definitely not easy. Great video, mate. Please keep them coming!

Great video man. I personally found that having a positive mindset and staying disciplined is so so important. It is so easy to get discouraged in this field and sometimes you feel like you won't make it. However, I learned to never give up and do always do the best I can and be patient with the progress I make. Right now, things are really tough for me and graduation seems like a dream but I will daily do my best consistently no matter how difficult it gets. Thanks for the inspiration man.

Bro, it's like you were reading my mind. The money will be nice in my dev career but its a means to secure a stable nest egg from myself and my family as I age and need support; Its rough being old with little money (With all due respect) especially as the cost of living will increase. I take my health seriously for the same reasons as well as fear and again, I see what it's like to have many health issues as you age it can be costly and medicare can only cover so much. Its not a game.

I think they are related but are different in the sense that both fields use different programming languages. Web development mainly uses languages such as html, css, and js. While software development mainly uses languages such as python, java, and c++.
