I agree to an extent but not even half of the NBA are crazy good athletes. Most are just skilled at a specific part/s of the game. Take Jokic for example arguably the best player in the league currently and is no way considered an “athlete” by any means.

@@netche10 no most of the NBA are great athletes. Jokic looks unathletic compared to other freak athletes but he himself is still a freak athlete. He's almost seven feet tall. He weighs 284 and has proportional strength (so benching at least 315). Jokic may not have elite speed or acceleration, but his endurance is off the charts. Imagine a man his frame running two miles in 16 minutes without breaking stride. And he's much faster than people think, he's constantly moving around the floor. Jokic is one of the most athletically gifted people alive. He just doesn't look like it when people like LeBron and Zion exists in the same league. Only unathletic compared to other athletic freaks.

Larry Bird was probably the least athletic Superstar the league has ever seen, but it doesn't matter bc he was also V tall. To make the league you have to have crazy skills but also must have either a lot of athleticism or alot of height ( 6'5" min) Any leagers under 6'5" are either *INSANELY* athletic or have *otherwold* skills or a combination of both

Not playing in the ncaa has nothing to do with it. To small, no athletic enough, not good enough. On the flipside, he as been able to live a great life in hoops. Seen the world, made lots of money. Mad respect for a guy who didn't have what it takes to play in the League, but still took his work ethic and love of the game to make a great life in hoops.

He is short and from what we can see of him he has good iso skills but at his height you should really be an elite playmaker and in today's league an elite shooter, without one or both of those things you ain't making the league unless you are like 6' 5 or taller, because no matter how much hustle you play with, being short in the NBA today you are just going to be a matchup target on the defensive end, when you are short you have to be a big enough positive on the offensive end to make up for the liability you are on the defense end, and pure iso ball has never been a winning type of offensive basketball

The real reason is only 3 players were drafted from and 1. That's how high the bar is. That's how good you need to be just to be on an NBA bench. I played basketball in Bryce Drews backyard. You got NBA coaches who are shorter. My best card collection on rookie seasons reflects that.

In street ball, you can dribble 8-12 seconds at a time and nobody's going to trap you with double teams. His style is great for street ball, but it also eats up a lot of shot clock and drains a lot of energy. I think he could've been a backup PG somewhere, but with the lack of NBA size and athleticism, it would've been a struggle.

I've stood right next to this dude. He's more like 5'10" or 5'11". The chances of any player making the NBA under 6 foot is like 1 in a million or harder. Also, he only weighs 155lbs. Giving up that much height and weight makes it nearly impossible. Amazing baller but not built for the physical demands it would take to get there.

There's a reason Skip to My Lou is one of the few streetballers that has successfully cracked the NBA. To show your dribblegame you need the rock, to score you need to shoot/dunk/layup...dribbling can be a means to an end but over dribbling ( the vast majority of what Streetball is all about ) is a detriment to your team. NBA looks for the most efficient way to score the ball...period. The NBA and streetball just don't mix.
