My dad's liver recipe: "Bring the pan to FULL heat, greased with butter ghee. Put the chopped liver into the frying pan and cover with a lid (occasionally turning the liver) When the meat is cooked through, turn the heat off and cover in chopped raw onion (one large cooking onion) Throw in some dried parsley, oregano, lemon juice, salt and olive oil Leave the pan lid on top and let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the onion to pull the pungent taste from the liver"

WOW!!! I was diagnosed with MTHFR gene Mutation back in 2016 after multiple mid term miscarriages after having 4 healthy pregnancies. I have both Homozygous and Heterozygous genes so I am susceptible to most things that you listed here. I have been suffering from depression, Anxiety and panic attacks for last 8yrs+. I eat healthy as I am a former IIN student, however I suffer from many inflammatory illnesses. I take Vitamin D with K2, methylfolate, B12 and a host of other supplements to help, however I haven't really noticed a decrease in any of my symptoms. I suffer with low heme iron as well and never realized that it was a symptom of MTHFR. This video and information comes to me at a time in my life where I am determined to live healthy and heal no matter what it takes. I truly appreciate all of this information, you are God sent.

I have MTHFR - compound heterozygous - one faulty gene from both parents. Didn't notice it until later in life then the gene 'switched on' and suddenly my whole life changed. When I eat chicken liver I feel normal - like I used to feel before MTHFR - lots of energy, almost no inflammation and a clear head. My liver loves it when I eat liver because the nutrients are instantly accessible. Good advice about stopping supplements - don't take them all the time, that's why they're called supplements - they supplement your diet. The body has to work hard to break them down and the stomach lining has to be in good shape too. People with MTHFR - focus on eating organic food, reduce chemicals in your environment and detox as much as possible. Stay away from heavy metals - that's in most fish. Green tea seems to help and hemp oil is good too. Sweat out the toxins if you can or dry brush the skin, epsom salt baths and keep the stress down.

My daughter HATES liver! She is in an assisted living facility for heart problems andvdiabetes. Zero nutritious foods! I buy her organic when possible, also pre cook some freezer meats ie stews, casseroles, packets of meats she incorporates into other meals. These are portioned freezer meals. Point here is …. grass fed ground bf. and frozen organic liver. (She has no clue!) Frozen liver chops up into little bitty pieces. Toss liver onions, garlic beef, (green peppers if you wish ) into skillet…brown . When cool…bag it for freezer. She loves it! I’ve never told her liver was in it….think it would gag her. I know many of the healthy improvement she’s experienced over last two years has been due to addition of more nutritious foods. Thanks Dr. BERG for confirming.❤️ And for all you liver haters out there……….this really works. The addition of 1-2 slices of an organic bacon will absolutely camouflage any liver flavor.

Please please please do more videos on MTHFR! I discovered that I have the homozygous c677t MTHFR mutation after struggling my whole life with anxiety, adhd, estrogen dominance/pcos, and most recently in the last few years poor stress tolerance, extreme weight gain, dysautonomia symptoms, debilitating fatigue and now pain issues. I was experiencing nerve, joint and muscle pain and was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I started taking methy-b12 and methyl-folate and my nerve pain disappeared overnight. My cognitive function significantly improved and my overall pain is way less. My mood is way better and my adhd has improved. I’m trying to learn as much as I can about this genetic mutation because it seems to be the key to a lot of functions that impact daily life!

My mother used to cook a variety of foods including cow's liver. I like liver. Liver is good for the body. It cleans the system when eaten in a regular basis. The funny thing is that the body "knows" what it needs, there are foods that sit well and others that do not.

Yep, I’ve learned from my mom and grandma too. They knew what our bodies needed. Years ago my doc told me to follow low fat diet because of my cholesterol, so I did and my cholesterol didn’t change so they wanted to put me on statins, to which I said No. I’ve been eating mostly fruits, vegetables and chicken. This diet started to erode my gastric system to the point that I developed IBS and could only tolerate certain fruits and veggies. So, after doing some research on YT and remembering my mom’s and grandma’s cooking I figured I had nothing to lose and started eating variety of meats, reduced amounts of fruits and veggies and finally have been doing better, and guess what? My cholesterol went down! I was in shock myself. My good cholesterol shot up and all other numbers went down. I’m going to have it rechecked again just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke😉

After having many vitamin deficiencies for YEARS, even though I was taking Vitamins and extra iron, and also having issues with no mental health meds helping me at all, my new psychiatrist ordered the test for the MTHFR genetic mutation and my test came back positive for 3 different issues to do with malabsorption. So even though I was taking all these meds and vitamins (that contained folate) my body doesn't break down the folate into methylfolate which is what the liver needs (not in folate form) so I've been just wasting years and money. I've started methylfolate with my vitamins (making sure none of them include folate, which can be hard to find!) and I see my psychiatrist next week to find out which meds might work better in my case now that we have this new information. Also, I used to LOVE liver as a kid and teenager, but the last time I tried it I gagged every bite. 😥

I started eating clean and non gmo , mostly organic as much as possible..even with makeup lotions and such going as clean as possible...when I do eat anything enriched..it hurts my head...the fake folic acid gets into your blood brain barrier and is really bad for people with these genetic mutations...my mother would cook liver when I was little...I'm going to try and start eating it again...its do hard because a lot of people do not take in their nutrients and can not assimilate their food so well...I take enzymes to help that..but much thanks Dr. B I watch many of your vids and really appreciate your wealth of knowledge! As Dr Berg has pointed out before and this video the MTHFR gene is the reason why you shouldn't consume folic acid (regardless of your doctor's recommendation to), because of your body's inability to convert it to folate. Instead you want to consume folate (the natural version known as methylfolate if you're going to supplement).

I cut the liver in medium size stew-like pieces, dip it in egg then the bread crumbs mixed with little parm cheese. I fry it in a big enough pan with some olive oil so I have room for flipping it over. I keep turning it over until it’s nice and brown but not burned. I found it doesn’t take long to make it this way, it stays softer and it tastes delicious. Once done I’ll take my “liver stew”😀 out and add little more oil to the pan and do my onions. Sometimes I may cook up some mushrooms separately, I guess you could add anything you’d like. I try to make it at least twice a month so in between we may have some liver sausage instead. I know it’s processed, but we don’t eat it too often and I think it’s better than eating some other junk out of a box. Oh, forgot to add, that if I have any leftovers they taste even better the next day. Sometimes I snack on them cold, lol.

All stopped when I stopped the supplements. A couple years later hubby & I experimented with the carnivore diet & included daily desicated liver supplements. Felt great, euphoric mood, dramatically less joint pain & digestive issues, so much energy & lost weight. Slid back towards regular eating after a few months...not SAD diet but certainly not as much meat & no liver or liver supplements , plus more sugary foods. I can feel the difference. It is clear to me that very low carb, more meat, liver or liver supplements is how I need to eat to feel my best. You would think that knowing that, it wouldn't be so hard to change. 😵💫🤷

Such great info as always. How often would you recommend eating liver for the benefits? I'm on OMAD and it is a challenge to get enough variety of food.

Dr. Berg - does this pertain to eating grass fed beef liver solely or should we be consuming chicken liver and liver from other animals if we can find it grass fed, pasture raised...etc?

I started craving liver this past year. Hadn't had it in years. Now we have it often and I feel much better. Is there a limit to how often I should eat it? Thank you so much.

Did anyone else read that as the motherfu... never-mind, I'm so immature! Thanks for another great video Dr Berg! I wish it wasn't so difficult to get beef/ox liver in Scotland, the only liver available in stores is pig & lamb. Even my local butchers do not stock it, I have to go way out to the countryside to get it.

Just don't overcook it... I quickly sear mine on all surfaces and then put chopped toms, onions & mushrooms in the pan, followed by a stock or gravy... then slow cook it for tenderness. I like it with navy beans.. I usually consume lambs liver as its not as strong-tasting... 😎👍☘🍺

Similar to my live recipe I Don even sear it. I just use water and the flavour of liver makes a gravey. I add bacon grilled if you like. Better added to seap out n mix its flavour into gravey. Onions, garlic, pepper, pinch salt. I add home dried crushed hot chillies. To your taste. Serve with a creamy mashed potatoes, dash cream and butter.

I have MTHFR and I do call it those swear words because it's not any fun. I also have some other gene mutations that make it even harder to detox. So I've felt toxic most of my life, and I've had to live with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, ADD, and a lack of energy. And because of MTHFR, I ended up with heavy metal poisoning (lead, cadmium, mercury, aluminum, arsenic, etc.). I've done around 35 rounds of IV EDTA chelation therapy along with oral DMSA to lower the levels. But the lead and cadmium are still somewhat elevated, so I do chelation therapy once in a while. Last year I started drinking well water and ended up accumulating some barium (which had never shown up before) even though a well water test showed that the barium was very low and supposedly at a very safe level (well, safe for normal people I guess). I do take methyl folate and a high quality multi-vitamin that has the methyl forms of B vitamins, but I don't really notice a difference. Anyhow, I think that one of the worst things about having MTHFR is that it is an invisible condition, and people (including friends, family, and doctors) don't believe that you feel like crap, because you look normal on the outside. I even had some doctors suggest that my symptoms are all in my head. Well, they're not! After years of suffering, I finally found an alternative MD who did a bunch of testing that mainstream doctors don't do, and he found all sorts of things that explained why I felt like crap. And no, it wasn't all in my head. Those mainstream doctors were just very limited in their knowledge about some chronic conditions. As for the liver... I'm glad to hear that it isn't full of toxins. But I can't stand the taste of liver, so I think I'll just keep taking the supplements.

I think you should try beef liver. I’ve never ate anything that was so immediately impactful on my health. I will say there is no need to eat too much. I tend to get a pressure headache if I do. 0.5 oz every other day or so is just fine. You don’t need much it’s just totally packed with everything you need👍🏼
