What are you studying dear, I would strongly advise you to get a government job after graduation (if you are not planning on working in healthcare) then you would get better benefits. Africans should not be doing jobs like CNA (at least not for the long term). Go for the difficult stuff like engineering, maths, accounting, law, science. Let other people do stuff like looking after old people and carrying boxes in a warehouse.

@travelvideoz There is no such thing as the "perfect" exciting job. Jobs are just to get money (you overthink) and government jobs offer better benefits and better security. If you are bored then do more in your personal life. If you play with your food (in regards to job security) you'll end up homeless in USA.

yess, i agree. CNA and the other odd jobs are helpful at the start as you're trying to find your footing here, but not for the longterm. i'm definitely looking along the lines of STEM jobs, like you said..

It's HARD to save money despite americans having a culture about saving money. Because you are NOT PAID. IN 15 years of """working""", last 10 years with forced 2 jobs in the same time, I just barely jumped over unemployment compensation. Now, being on disability, from social security, I am getting THE SAME MONEY like I had when I was """working""" - minus SOME transportation. If I consider that, now, on disability I'm earning better than when I was """working""".

What are you talking about ? Mortgage ??!!? If you had money to buy an apartment, you are very good. I mean if the bank approved you the loan for it. Health insurance ? The employer HAS to do it for you !!! Mortgage as a new immigrant !??! Don't blind me !
