I used to play golf quite a bit 35 years ago and I usually able to break 80 most of the time. Back before the internet and I do not how to calculate my own handicap, I assign myself a handicap 8 , not considering course rating and slope. From time to time I am paired up with players who self proclaimed to be a scratch or 1 - 3 handicapper. Many of them have so-so swings and had to scramble most of the time to make par.

We played against a 4 hcapper yesterday. He had a nice swing and hit some great shots but was wayward at times too. However he seldom hit 2 bad shots in a row and said he knew where the best misses were.

Another great video Jon. To get to single figures is just chipping away at the easy things.

Thanks David! I agree, it's a series of small improvements and better thought processes.

I play a similar tee it down and grip down an inch aim down the left and let it come back. I’m a 7 index and one week I’ll shoot 77 and a week or two later I scratch around 83-85+

I think it's smart to have a go-to play for when it's needed. I have a full swing most of the ties but a punch drive if I really need to try and keep it in play.

Woolooware GC. I think they have their club champs on at the moment, but yeah it was in great condition.

If you can keep the ball in play and get it somewhere around the green in regulation, add in a reasonable short game you're a single digit golfer. The lower you want to get, the more difficult it becomes.

I’m a 7 handicap would say I don’t get up and down as much as 40% but hit more than 50% of FIR

I'm an 8-9 , and it just depends on the day for me. Some days, I hit most fairways, but my irons don't necessarily show up. Some days, I can't hardly find a fairway, but my irons show up. My wedges are what generally save me. Typically, from 130 in, I can find the green and get out of there with a par of bogey. I really don't hit that many birdies, though. My best rounds may only have a single birdie or two , but I just limit tje bogeys. Golf is strange. I always thought breaking that sacred 10 would mean I was a good golfer..... turns out, I still suck I just suck a bit less tan a 15. 🤷

How do you play 400m par 4 holes. Do you play as par 5s or go for green.
@JonPerkinsGolf

Probably depends on the layout of the hole, any trouble, weather conditions, what's around the green etc. Generally I quite like hitting driver and hit it pretty straight. On tough, long holes, I wouldn't beat myself up on a bogey though. Some holes you just have to get through and move on.

Yep you can have a good day or a bad day. But it's allways golf. ⛳
