Very true on sizing issue, that why i go one size up when i shop online. The only problem remaining is the shipping costs. Most of the clothing i love to own are shipped from abroad. So the price is doubled up all the time. Likewise, return or exchange option becomes even useless because of overboard shipping charges, lol... Thank you for the practical tips and tricks. xoxo

Btw, you can make infinite accounts and get the $25 price discount from them. I guess it’s still expensive compared to the US shipping cost but maybe it helps a bit.

Great job with this video. I know something like this is a big undertaking when you're doing a video a day. I can tell this one took a LOT of your time to plan, film, and edit. It is noticed and appreciated. Fantastic and detailed information. I avoid buying clothing online because I feel like I'm hard to fit and I don't want to be returning things all the time but the process you described sounds doable. I'm on The Real Real every day to look at handbags and slg's but this video inspires me to want to look at their clothing section, too. With bags I've found that condition isn't always described accurately and sometimes they include disclaimer sentences on almost all pieces. For example, most bags say they have residue in the interior even if they don't. Have you found something similar with clothing? I know you mentioned smells but have you run into other condition issues that weren't described? That thing with the cart and "on hold" and the timer...it's so annoying for a number of reasons. You gave good advice about it, especially how being "on hold" makes something seem more valuable. A while back I found one of those Hermes Sauvage du Texas scarves I want. It had just come up for sale and someone already had it on hold. I waited the full 15 minutes minutes, refreshing my screen every few seconds in case it went off hold, and the person bought it at the last second. So frustrating! But I've also had good luck with that where something has been on hold and I've snatched it up as soon as it's off. It does help to know the tips and tricks about TRR. Clothes and shoes being non-returnable when they're at deeper discounts is also very frustrating. There was a pair of quilted bronze Chanel ballet flats on TRR a while back that would have been perfect with my bag but I didn't know if they would fit. They weren't returnable so I emailed customer service to ask if I could return them for not fitting (I mean, why would they make you keep something expensive that doesn't even fit, right?) but sure enough they said no, I could not return them for that reason. Not cool, in my opinion. Anyway, thanks so much for this video! Now I'm off to peruse their clothing!

Thank you for noticing Autumn! It was definitely a lot of work but dovetailed nicely with my recent TRR haul so it seemed to make sense to do. The thing they will often say is "Very good. Light wear throughout." I never know if that is real or not because I've sent them clothing without tags but that I never ever wore, and they put that on it. I recently received a sweater that said "Pristine. New with tags." It looked great until I held it up to the light and saw that there were several moth holes. It was returnable so I returned it with no problem and alerted them to the damage. My guess is that the people buying the deeply discounted items that you can't return are either full time resellers or have a way to resell them if they don't work. I don't sell on eBay or Poshmark so that really doesn't work for me. I'll be excited to see if you end up buying anything. Just remember that you will have some misses, but you'll eventually find brands that work. It may be worth a trip to your local mall to try on a few things in a few different brands first since you live in an area where you have easy access to so many wonderful brands. As a petite woman you may need to make friends with a tailor. Pay special attention to the jacket sleeves that look good flipped up making it unnecessary to professionally shorten them.

Hi Jill, Great video! These are excellent tips and ones I use as well. I love clothing on TRR and I can absolutely understand why you only pick items that can be returned. I am the opposite and only tend to go for the deeply discounted pieces 💖 ice got a not so positive video going up about TRR today but this was a nice reminder that they can be great!

Thank you Jessica! Oh I'll be interested to see your video today. I've had a couple of bad experiences with them on bags because there photos aren't great, and they don't disclose smells. More recently I've learned that they will take things back if there was something that wasn't disclosed. I haven't tested that yet. I much prefer being able to return something if I don't like it. I'm sure there are amazing clothing deals if you get what can't be returned. I'm afraid I would not come out ahead in the end. I wonder if they would take something back if their measurements were off. xoxo

@@JillMaurer I've returned things for not being described correctly before and it has always been handled well! I think measurements being inaccurate would be a valid reason. As a reseller I am less worried about returns because if I know I bought it at a great price, I should be able to get my money back selling it- so as long as the description is accurate I feel okay taking the risk!

This was great a wealth of information I have bought so many things from the real real and always been happy returns are easy. It is the best site for shoes. I thought I’d mention that buying secondhand is sustainable fashion I’m a big proponent of that also if someone else measures you the measurements are more accurate. Sunday could you possibly do a video on how to take your own measurements what measurements are important how to measure a garment laying flat?

Shopping on “The RealReal” is great fun - a “heart” here, a “heart” there. In the end, however, I end up with a scarf; a SLG or a household trinket. Somehow I just don’t have any luck with clothes. Thanks for this video!

Great tips and insight! The info on the sizing was a great reminder, also to be familiar with how designers sizes/fit "run". I have heard with other KZitem videos that they will go to specific boutiques and find how the clothing, shoes and bags look on and for them, so smart. The vanity sizing....so manipulative but I get it. Side note, I did see a report about the same dress, the same size and they do not fit the same, the explanation was due to the mass production of cutting the material for the pattern, what is at the top of the stack will be different in measurement than at the bottom because of the pressure of cutting. Anyway, that has stuck in my head forever, such a good visual as well. Thursday Hugs xxoo!

Sizing IS a joke. I was a size 14 in high school and 40 years and 40 lb. later I was still a size 14. Remember when there was a store called "5 7 9 Shop" that billed themselves as "the small size specialists"? Now we have size 0 and even 00 for small sizes and no one considers a size 9 small!
@JillMaurer

Vanity sizing is so out of control. When I go to a new store, and they ask me what size I am I generally say, "I have no idea. What size do you think I am?". They will be better at guessing for their store than I will be. The sizes are truly just meaningless. xoxo
