Maham Waseem I understand your feelings and how hard it can be for someone who has social anxiety to hear and think about putting themselves in such hard situations in order to help themselves... but I think that this fear is just a consequence of your main problem which is anxiety... something like it is only in your head! I Even hear of psychotherapists doing this same type of therapy like putting the patient in situations that make them inconfortable in order to make them comfortable.. of course it takes time and hard work but it’s worth it... hope everything gets better with you.. you can do it

@@sandraguessasma4065 I'm not completely denying this quote. Yeah, exposure does help but with proper CBT. If someone is cured by just throwing themselves in social situations, then I believe that they must be just shy or they had very mild social anxiety. Because i would do a task daily but i would still suffer and still panic. You think I didn't try to fake it? Well, you're wrong. The more I try to fake it the more my anxiety worsens. This quote makes people think "Oh, she doesn't even try that's why she can't get over it". That's why I couldn't get help from any professional because of people telling me to " Just fake it" Or "just get over it". Thankfully, I didn't lose hope and tried self help courses on youtube and read some books. Now I am slowly trying to expose myself in social situations and I did improve. Now atleast I don't cry for a whole week because I didn't function well in a social situation. I hope you understand😊

We should seek to go back for a lower way of thinking.. because what is the purpose of thinking way to much and be so advanced in your thinking that you cant live life properly anymore? Isnt that somehow how you could imagine it to be poisoned? To be forced to think too much? The question we should ask ourselves is what is the poison. And maybe also that is something much more simple and basic than it seems in the beginning.

Maybe this intelligence is nothing good at all but something really really bad for us. If we ask ourselves what is the reason we are so intelligent? Is it because humanity consumed something for a long period of time that is passively „poisoning“ us? Like sugar? Or wheat? Or drugs like cocaine and the influence people taking it have on the society? Or is it even magic mushrooms if you beleive in the „Stone Ape Theory“ (Paul Stamets)?

The German word for self-confidence is "Selbstbewusstsein". Interestingly enough, this word literally translates to self-consciousness (Selbst = self, Bewusstsein = consciousness). Maybe this could mean that confidence comes from a place of consciousness - knowing who you are, knowing your worth, what you can do and what you can't.

Have dreams and goals, pursue them. Wake up early in the morning, be in control of your day, plan your day hour by hour, set up small goals or things you need to do for the day, write them down. Confidence for me comes from discipline and being in control, and also from achieving small goals daily. If I wake up at 5 am, I know I wake up to chase my dreams. If I wake up so early it means I control my life, hence it gives me a lot of confidence. And when you do it everyday, you never feel like you lack confidence, and even if there are those rare days, you know that if you wake up at 5am and get on your goals, you'll be good again. That's what's been working for me. Also, the rule of 5 seconds - if you're afraid to do something, count from 1 to 5 and just do it. This thing is a huge boost of confidence as well. Makes you feel like damn, nothing bad happened, so next time I can do more and more of "scary" things. For many years I also had insecurity talking with women, but once I started doing what I wrote above, boom. It's like coming up to a girl is just another "scary" thing I do that in the end is actually very cool and enjoyable because women are pretty and sweet :)

Hey dude, I hope you are doing well, I read what you wrote and it’s quite true but not 100%, I had the same definition that you have on self-confidence one day, but I reshaped it with time, and the thing is that life is mostly unpredictable, and you can’t keep up with doing the hard things every single day for the rest of your life, everybody is not ‘THE ROCK’ so what happens is when you fail, you lose your self-confidence related to the wins, and everytime you fail getting up again, you keep doubting your self confidence, and it may last for a long time. The point is, don’t put high standards, the real key to self-confidence is to be real with your self, to really know who you are and what you are capable of, and to match the way you think and process things with that. There’s a lot to say about this, but all in all, it’s not external as nathan said, the key is to be realistic, and chase authenticity, hope I helped.

I have struggled with the same problem from my early teens. What I have realized is that I lacked belief. I had no clue as to who I was and who I wanted to be. And even if I had known who I wanted to be, I probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to stand by my beliefs. I had to hit rock bottom before I said enough is enough. I tried to be a little bit braver each and every day. Every failure was a lesson I learned from. When I finally moved away from my hometown and started making new friends at college I realized that the people I had met would not judge me for being me. Thanks to them I have grown a lot this past year. They have made me realize I am worthy of love, happiness and respect. It’s something that takes time and there will be a lot of growing pain. I try to be honest with myself, spend time with myself, respect my own physical and emotional boundaries, and stay true to the vision of who I want to be. Now I simply treat people the way they treat me, if they don’t like me for it then that is not my problem. It’s theirs, they need to have a closer look at themself’s.

My purpose is to understand information and relay it as well as to teach others to be more open minded. Ask yourself who you are. Your purpose is abstract, so you are never tied down to one thing :D

Therefore, it may not only be about finding one purpose but, exploring many things that exercise your talents and also step out of your comfort zone and discovering other abilities. With that, you have confidence because you know and believe in your value and you work to add more value. It's like investing in yourself. Any thoughts?

📝 *S U M M A R Y* 👇 Nathaniel thinks that one of the most attractive characteristics a person can have is self-confidence. Confidence can make anybody more attractive. It is about the source of High Vibration energy. EXAMPLE Book mentioned: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Here Nathaniel pretends... um, sorry! Here Harry pretends to give Ron a potion which gives you good luck. It worked as a placebo and it gave Ron confidence. There are some people that radiate a level of well-being regardless of how they look like. Taking action is good for you. Don't spend time in your own head. People are not paying attention to the small details of your personality. Nathaniel's own self-confidence comes from multiple pieces. The first one is _Belief_ Confidence comes from his belief in his abilities, ideas, systems. He is confident that he can solve problems. We have to find ways to trick ourselves into these cycles. The second one is _Well-being_ Accepting yourself, your body, the person you are. These two are interconnected. There is not easy starting point. Like Ron, you do not actually need the _potion_ but only need to trick yourself and placebo it all the way. You do not need the alcohol, the drugs, the stimulants. Focus on yourself. _END_ Thanks for reading! I just wanna say this, Nathaniel. The videos you make are genuine and true to their definition. The content you make inspires and motivates me and it makes me want to do something much more in my life. I generally feel really crappy when I wake up throughout the most of the day and it makes me feel like I don't wanna do my tasks and let me be honest, I DON'T. I just load my task to the other day, next day and then the next one. Then everything gets so tense that I feel depressed and I know that it's my fault which makes me feel down even more. But when I watch your videos and I focus on what you say, I actually get some quality knowledge about the world. I wonder how can I apply it to myself, I can't. I have to learn it through my own experience but by keeping the sayings of yours in my mind, makes it easier for me. Thank you for this amazing content. I really appreciate it. The one thing I've learned from the life is that "Happiness isn't something what we want all the time. We've to appreciate who we are. That's happiness. Appreciating what we've and being grateful for it is the happiness." Another thing I learned was when I was sorting our my dad's stuff after he passed away a few days ago. I found an amazing piece of advice, "Start with what you have and where you are." I feel like it's changing my life. The belief, confidence and well-being just made it into a full book of treasure worth more than any wealth or fame.

i've always been called "confident", even when i'm not exactly feeling like i am, and i think the real key to having it be just a natural part of you is trusting yourself more than anybody else. so yes, belief is important - you have to believe that no matter what happens, you still got you. i would say the tough part is the distinction between arrogant and self assured - which one can struggle with. ideally, one would be able to grow enough confidence to fill the others surrounding him/her with it too. people need people, and being humble, able to say you're wrong when you are and still feeling okay is, i would argue, the truest sense of confidence. so - bit of both, the fun part is the journey of becoming it.

Just wanted to add something I've learned recently as I have been trying to build my self-confidence. I started questioning where my self-worth lies when I began reflecting on my own well-being. I found out that I've measured my own self-worth on my success. If I view myself based on how successful I am, then I will never be satisfied with who I am as an individual and always feel a lack in my life as if "I'm not enough." This is why I've lacked self-confidence. I am not my success and failures. I've also realized that confidence is how we see ourselves, and how we interact with the world. When we begin to change the image we have of ourselves we gain the confidence needed in order to live happier, fuller lives. Hopes this helps :)

Yesterday i talked to my friend and asked for help and tips on this topic, and now you upload video on it! I've always had a lack of confidence and for a long time I've been working on building it, but it's a slow process i guess and needs patience, but sometimes can be so tough and hard, but thank you for making this video, love it❤

I place my self worth on my ability to help others. Which I am trying to shape into a different energy. To put myself first and pursue my wildest dreams, fearlessly. Not selfishly- but fearlessly, believing in my ability to have the discipline to commit to my goals. To be honest- it’s pretty challenging in quarantine. Taking it day by day. Thank you for this video, you are seriously such a mood booster, and give me such a calm energy . I would love to sit down and have coffee with you if fate allows. Peace and blessings to you.

Confidence is a long journey with many ups and downs. I too experience a confident Ivy and an insecure Ivy that questions her worth every two seconds. I really like the quote "your opinion of me is none of my business" because it points out that a persons opinion of you will be a projection of their own beliefs about the world they experience (a mirror). This quote helped me because much of my confidence relied on external validation. Thank you for your videos :) I enjoy your perspective of the world.

Most videos I walk away from not really remembering anything (and in effect not really LEARNING anything). I watched this a week ago and still have the belief & action principle fresh in my mind. I appreciate the simple explanation but the deep thinking behind these videos. They're so well produced and I feel like I actually take something away from them. Keep up the great work!

Love the comment section too, very wholesome, with everyone sharing their own solutions. These days I have set myself into depressive pits over and over something insignificant. I am taking a break off then realisation hits me is that what genuinely is my antidote to my problems is physical work and mental breaks.

I am truly amazed by your way of putting things into order. I not only find myself and my inner world quite often strangely, almost tremendously well represented by your ability to articulate what I and apparently you and many other here are feeling but also I feel like there is a conclusion made visible and clearer than before, even if I have already thought about similiar ways of handling certain situations or states of beings. Thank you.

As my dad put it, self-confidence comes when you do what you say you will. The more you do the things you say you will do, the more confident you will be, because you will believe that since you've done it so many times, you can do it again. Self-confidence declines when you don't do the things you say you will. Also, once you start doing, you will do things that will improve your well being, and the positive, upward cycle begins. You say you will do something, then you do it, your self-confidence goes up, you feel better, you are more willing to do what you say you will, and then it goes. All we need to do is find a way to build and keep the momentum and keep the consistency.

In the past year I have been dealing with lack of self confidence but never tried to really think of the root cause behind it. Recently I've realized my well being has been tarnished by toxic people around me who love to gossip but seemed like good friends at first glance. And my belief in my abilities has decreased because of quarantine, putting too much weight on my grades at university to define my value (even though I am studying something I enjoy). I am aware of this, but like you said, there's no actual formula on how to get past these things mentally, we each have to slowly figure it out. Thank you for exploring this topic, it gave me more to reflect upon :)

I. Love. You. I totally agree with your point. By listening to your video, i realized that during the times where i felt at my lowest in term of self-confidence, there was always a toxic relationship behind it, keeping me down so that i cannot become the best version of myself. I'll work on my well being and my belief. Thanks Nathan

Absolutely well- being is key. Both mental and physical. Having an internal locust of control makes you feel more confident, as you’re not reliant on the things around you to feed that feeling of security. That deep understanding that everything around you is completely temporary, and you only have control of your inner state. The best thing I’ve heard to help me shift my mindset was - resilient people understand that both good and bad things happen to everyone. What matters more is how we rise from our circumstances. The world isn’t fair, and that’s ok. :)

I was never confident when growing up, I cared too much of what people thought of me and that ruled my life and actions. I vowed to change that, to grow confidence in myself and skills and now Im so much more confident and that is increasing exponentially. One piece of advice is getting into daily uncomfortable positions, thats the best way to grow confidence or the resistance to uncomfortable conditions and then obviously improve yourself and your skillset at the same time. I love your videos, they're so dense and full of amazing ideas.

You had confidence in your work and you reaped the benefits. Lack of confidence will only hold you back so it’s best to go full force with everything that you do, fake it until you make it! I think that a person trying to find what can make them more confident and more comfortable in their own skin, is pretty amazing. Which is radically different from trying to look confident which I think is what most people do, without giving it too much thought into why they are not confident in the first place. So, nice video

I have found that self-confidence comes from the pure art of being who you truly are (which finding that out is a journey itself). I say art, because it's a skill; it takes practice and the more you do it, the brighter the result. Belief is a strange word, beliefs come and go.... I would think more in terms of "trust" (maybe?), trusting yourself and that requieres a deep knowledge of who you are, your capabilities and flaws which can result in honesty, humility and... self confidence. By no means this is written in stone, just an analysis i had while watching your video. Nice video Nathan, glad to posted it, thanks for making me reflect more in the matter.

I seriously look up to you so much. Not to seem creepy, but I've been watching one of your videos every morning for the last week. Not sure if there's a better way to start a morning. Recently, I've been wanting to get out of this headspace I've been in for what seems like a lifetime and your videos have been one of my positive inputs. Your messages hit me deep, and hand in hand with these books I'm reading (Atomic Habits by James Clear, When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron), and this podcast called "The One You Feed" (awesome interviews with leading authors, they give great book recommendations too:) your changing the way I'm seeing the world, how I'm choosing to look at myself, how I deal with conflict, and much more. I'm starting to pay attention to the right things, and seeing you each morning share your perception of the world and these different techniques you're utilizing in your life, it all makes me excited to keep moving in this direction. You make me want to put this level of good in the world too. I'm sure you understand the difference you're making in the world, I just wanted to share with you my first hand experience so far.

Self trust is another major aspect of confidence. Believing you can take risks and trusting you won't beat yourself up if you falter and trusting you will figure it out, will result in confidence. And self-trust is rooted in your thoughts about yourself.

What a great video, Nathaniel. I think you covered a lot of ground! Personally, I'm most confident on days where I'm marching to the tune of my drum without a care in the world. However, we all have those days where we tend to question and compare ourselves to others - I'm the worst when it comes to getting into my head. But working on reframing how I look at things and understanding people and things aren't always what they appear to be, it helps to bring less stress and quite honestly a lot of clarity to my life.

Dude I love this!! I have been reflecting for a long time on self-confidence and I've often heard people recommend a very "fake it until you make it" approach, which gives me inconsistent results. I have found positive affirmations to be helpful in a foundational way, yet I also found that there's more to it. When I don't do the things that are important to me, that take care of myself or that are aligned with my values....my confidence gets lowered. I love what you said about confidence being a byproduct of many other things. I think asking oneself this question is key: what contributes or takes away from my well being and belief? I'm really thinking to write this out for myself. Thanks for these thoughts man!!
