I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO ANY OF THIS MATERIAL! Aired circa. 1965, played a few years later in 1968 on The Ed Sullivan Show. Features a little bit of Jim Henson at the end.
The other reindeer is performed by Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson, Jerry Juhl and Bob Payne

@@GregoryDiBruno Yes. I'm aware. I've followed Henson's career gleefully since about 1958. I just think the Sheldon Leonard overlay is funny. Henson doesn't seem to have used it in *The Muppet Show* or any of the many Muppet movies.

This might be both Jerry Nelson's and Frank Oz's first speaking roles and one of the very few for Bob Payne.

Close! Al Hirt's Fanfare was Frank's first speaking role a few months prior.

Frank didn't actually perform any reindeer here, at least not their voice. Jim did Dasher and the voice of Prancer, Bob was Dancer, Jerry Nelson was Donner, and Jerry Juhl played Blitzen.

I wonder what color felt Don Sahlin used to build these puppets?

Probably brown, since reindeer are usually brown in most Christmas media.

@@clydeandfriends yeah cuz I was thinking about rebuilding my reindeer puppet that I made two years ago. I’m thinking maybe I could use the same design Don Sahlin used and building one.

To be fair while this is a bit more rougher keep in mind Henson was just starting and probably was able to do that much with the design. I do agree with you though the Sullivan version was better, but I liked the extra bits in this version that was not in the other.

The reindeer puppets shown in the Ed Sullivan Show actually looked like reindeer than these puppets do. Why do they have hands? Reindeer have HOOVES, not hands!!
