I truly do hope this is successful for them. Casa Bonita has such a cool story. I also kinda hope they open the Tulsa location back up. The one in Tulsa was basically the exact same but smaller. It didn't have cliff divers because ot was smaller but it had waterfalls and the caves and all that but definitely missing a few of those areas like the underwater thing. It also had a pretty sweet arcade. Maybe it will come back someday. Now that i think of it my older sister worked at casa Bonita for her first job. We also used to have a Panchos Mexican Buffet in Tulsa and i loved that place as a kid.

We have visited Casa Bonita every few years since 1975 (I was 11 years old), whenever family would come to Denver to visit. I Was last there for my 48th birthday in 2012, which was two days after my dad passed. Family was in town planning his memorial and my kids wanted to make the best of a sad time on my birthday. They paid for everything and it was a highlight of a very bad week. Casa Bonita holds many family memories. Now that they are reopen, I can't wait to bring my granddaughter! What is personally to me amusing about your comment is that I saw the predecessor to _South Park_ almost two decades before I ever even heard of "Casa Bonita". Back in the very early '90s, I attended a New Year's party at a friend's house, and they were playing this VHS tape that had been passed around at college. It was _The Spirit of Christmas_ .... and bear in mind, I was stationed at the long-defunct Lowry AFB back in the *early 80s* , too... and even then had never even heard of the place, despite going to Red Rocks a couple times during my posting there!!!

Thank you for taking us to Casa Bonita’s reopening. I grew up going there. I had heard they hired a special chef and it was going to be really good food, but it looks exactly the same as it always was. We never went there for the food. The food was mediocre. The Sopapillas were always amazing and so was their baked Alaska. Otherwise it was nothing special. We went there for the atmosphere and the fun that we always had at the shows and the sights. And now I hear they priced themselves so high that the average person probably can only go there once. We used to go there all the time. When family or friends would come to visit from out of town we always took them to Casa Bonita. It looks the same except may be a little cleaner. No matter what, I am so grateful that they kept Casa Bonita, because of many family memories. Last time I was there was in 2017 for my birthday on May 1. And since then two of my grandchildren that were with me have passed away and so I have great memories that I really want to treasure…..so I’m glad they kept Casa Bonita.

Cool fact, the anthem America The Beautiful was written from the experience someone had at the summit! If your closer to the Denver area the Mt. Evans drive is pretty fun too with lots of pull offs, Mt Goliath nature center and hiking opportunities and a cool lake near the summit. The Mt Evans drive requires a reservation which is good for a couple days you just have to enter at the allotted time you are given. The view from both of those summits amazing!

I just dint get why restaurants like this aren’t more popular. The best places to eat are ones that have these immersive environments. I.e. BlueBayou, Rainforest Cafe, Ohana, San Angel Inn, etc… I wish these types of restaurants were all over. Normal restaurants are so boring. But these types usually have long long waiting lists to get in yet, they come around for a little while them close. Who doesn’t love an immersive themed restaurant?
@MrJest2
11 ай бұрын
Usually it's because the maintenance on the "theming" overwhelms the razor-thin profit margins of the actual food service. A place like this either needs stupendous food at a stupendous price, or boring and pointless theming, or some form of subsidy. The food service biz is extremely tough to make work; it takes very careful and talented management of resources and precise attention to detail to make it all work together.

@@MrJest2 Yeah, unfortunately i agree. Forgot about those issues. I guess the reason Rainforest Cafee had a large gift shop you had to enter/exit through. Offset some of those costs. But they had huge fishtanks with exotic fish swimming around which couldn’t have been cheep to maintain and they lasted a pretty long time. They could have gotten rid of those and done something a little different to save on costs. Heck, a tiki bar would be great. Just a bunch of nautical crap hanging on the ceiling with some red, blue and green lighting. A little pond and waterfall. Thats what i would call theming at its minimum, something any restaurant could do but crafted to their specific element and it would be a HIT.. But they could at least take a step or two and not have to go way over the top.
