Awesome, I love the song as well and for a guy who grew up in Minneapolis during the 80's, having seen the band play a lot of shows all over town, I wish they would've had this in their sets. I watched Paul play the beginning of it during his gig at the State Theater for the Eventually tour but that was it. I also saw Tommy's band Perfect play a show at Lee's, a downtown dive, and asked him about it but as usual, he didn't want to talk about the Replacements.

And finally, I was also into metal back then and was blessed to have caught a ton of shows by a band called Slave Raider, what a good time, they rocked like no other...

He was a really nice guy too, I remember talking to him many times at shows and he got a kick out of us showing up night after night. Sometimes it seemed he would have rather been back home, they were always on the road. He remains one of my main guitar guys.

flagemdown66 I hear and read that "EVERYWHERE"....I was down buy Bryant lake bowl yesterday, and started to think about maybe, getting some type of get together or tribute thing going there on his birthday date every year. He had A LOT of people who just loved the guy and say "it still hurts that he is gone". Or "Dam, I really miss him". He was a shooting star...plain and simple.

Stinkerstien Minnesota's one and only "Bob Stinson guitar Specialist". Maybe get a tribute band going on that night, and play the real versions of the Replacement tunes. Maybe call it?"Have a drink on Bob Stinson" night. ...? or something.. Hell! I would love to tribute the guy...and play. Would be a F"king honor.

Out of all the band's and musicians in music history only a couple 100 are thought of as being GREAT! Out of those very few hundred only a handful are considered to be *Legendary*. The Replacements have achieved a legendary status. Not bad for a bunch of self proclaimed losers from Minnesota. Not bad at all.

@bobbyrawson It's on the "Tim" Expanded edition. I think some of there best material never made the original cut. Im glad they brought out the expanded editions. A lot of fans might never have had a chance to hear some of Bob's best work.

Checking out some video favorites and took another listen here. It's cool to see you having fun with it. I know the Cabooze well and though everyone talks about First Avenue, it's too bad the Longhorn and other bars are no more, all the bands we have mentioned played a lot of shows there in the beginning. You mentioned you caught the end of them, man, it's too bad you didn't see them in the mid 80's, what a blast even though half the shows were messy due to alcohol and drugs.

@bobbyrawson -- It was also released on a compilation called "Boink!" released on Glass Records in the UK in '86. For years that was the sole reason to actually buy it as everything else on it was from "Stink!" and "Hootenanny".

That was amazing, especially the solo! What kind of pickups are you using? They nailed the Mat's sound, are the Seymour Duncan's?

You mentioned Bob's band after the Mat's. He was in a couple of bands but was better known for being in one of my buddies bands. Ray Reigstad sang for a band called Static Taxi, which Bob did some decent work in. They were even more messed up than the Replacements, living and playing in a rail car down off University. If you would like an mp3 version of the whole album, just let me know!

Born and raised MN too.I just caught the tail end of the scene. (5 years to young). I did play a bar called the "cabbooze" around then. Bobs band (after he was out of the Replacements) went onstage after us. I remember him standing up on stage and just spitting in the air and catching his spit back in his mouth. He just stood up there doing that for 5 or 10 mins. Then they started to play. Cant remember the name of the band?

@buenaso27, while the Huskers and the Mat's certainly had a hand in making alternative famous, early Soul Asylum was right there along with the other Minneapolis bands that influenced them all like the Suicide Commandos, It was a great time to live in the Twin Cities, being able to see all those bands in the clubs. If you needed a break, you could also go downtown to see Prince. Don't laugh, the guy is a monster on the guitar and was more so back then. Also check out Run Westy Run...
