lol fairly sure this is what my entire family feels like when I'm practising the violin. Jeremy ' s miming playing is very good - that scale before "what's wrong" was perfect 😂

No, in an interview he once said that he could not. However, he also stated that he had got quite skilful at "bowing" the instrument, and that he listens to the music for hours beforehand, to get a feel of the rhythm.

Brilliant. Hilarious that Holmes heard Watson groaning because he knew his title sounded better then to toss in that little smug laugh. I really liked this one!

Love this series. The "But *please* do not let me influence you," at 1:50 reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Vetinari character saying "Don't let me detain you" XD.

@lidlehotti3 Apparently when Holmes is thinking he just plays random, discordant notes. He can play violin perfectly well and indeed in the Study In Scarlet he plays a violin lullaby to Watson to send him to sleep :3 God Watson's writing is huge. He must have a word count of 6 words per line, as opposed to my 12 or 13

Yes... the ending is perhaps a bit anticlimactic, but amusing. When someone extemporizes an act or an interaction, however small, that suits the characters of Holmes & Watson, it keeps them alive, and I can easily see Holmes knocking down Watson's rather lame choice of title in just this way.
@NegCal1292

flyinspirals just to add onto that, I can see Watson thinking to himself, "Crap, that's actually a better title", but fighting to give into Holme's suggestion. Lol

Apparently Jeremy Brett in his younger days had a speech defect that prevented him from pronouncing "r" correctly - he overcame it through therapy and assiduous practice. Guess he tended to overcompensate as a result!

'oh, n youmean *shows violin* oh, i nderstand)' 'thanks AWFULLY' i have to laugh at watson's title 'the brook's street' mystery being shunned ('i guess it will suffice.') by holmes: the portuguese version was called exactly that. :D mind you, the titles are usually translated straight out, but this was one of the ones that the title was different.

So, what becomes of Sutton's hoard? And what is the resolution of the dear handsome Dr. Trevelyan; does he get a claim on the hoard, as he and Sutton were partners in an enterprise? And does the dear handsome Doctor, get to stay all alone in that big old Mansion? OR, goes he go out an get himself another handsome Page, to scurry about the place and help him play Doctor? Hmmmm....oh, those 'Scarlet Victorians'.

@jamiewithers Oh, I don't know, I like them both... David Burke is certainly the more energetic Watson, but then again, his Watson is younger than Hardwicke's as his is after The Great Hiatus and al the stresses of supposedly losing Holmes and the years ahead... and Hardwicke, I always felt, was the more kindly Dr. Watson to others of the two- both had their strongpoints...

Definitely close to Doyle's characterizations of Holmes and Watson. Holmes just needs to be a touch more irreverent.
